Oh, Hello Mill Hill!

Have you seen these? C-uuuuuuuuu-te, as we say around here*.

I'm having a hard time deciding which one I like best. There's something to be said for all of them!

*My niece, who is intellectually disabled, has speech and language blah blah blah. Anyway, at one point on her journey, she would show you a new outfit and then say "cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue.: (No "T" but a long drawn out u sound. Which, you will quickly learn, is what any of us would say if we liked your new outfit you were showing us. (And when we girls were younger, we'd have to have fashion shows of our new school clothes.) So of course, we all adopted her approach to saying it.

New Stuff

Yesterday on a work break I perused the new releases on Hoffman's site. I made careful notes but my DSL was down when I got home last night so I could not share them with you.
  • Bent Creek, Americana Angel: What the hell does she have in her mouth?
  • La D Da, Zippity Do Da: A quick google search shows that the actual lyrics to "Song of the South" are Zip-a-dee-doo-dah. I just can't stitch it her way. Cannot.
  • Nora Corbett, Letters from Nora: Love! (I know, seems so not me.) When will she get to the letters I need?
  • Sam Sarah, Hip Hop Black Cat Doubles: Is it wrong to love the felt thing more than the stitched thing?
  • Shepherd's Bush, Scatter Freedom: Um, is anyone else reminded of cluster bombs? It's all I can think of...
  • Twisted Oaks, Patchwork Garden Pincushion Ball: I'm not so keen on the stitching, but how much do I love the finishing. Could this be the next biscornu? Stay tuned...

New! New! New!

SFist has a report about the National Needle Art Association (TNNA) meeting in San Diego. They show a needlepoint Nano case by AMH Designs (note, they don't have the new design on the website yet). When I first saw these I thought, I WANT THAT!

But just today, I found a pattern for a Nano case on wikiHow. So I think I can manage to make my own and not wait for the kits to be available--but how cool that AMH is gonna bring the kids to the stitching?

Besides my Nano hasn't worked since I got it, and my mother hasn't sent the receipt so I can't return it. So, no rush.

Lee, I am stitching the marquoir in hand. I had to gussy it up so I ironed it. I was taking a photo for a different purpose--turned out they didn't use it--but I had to restore the family pride by making it presentable.
