Whoooo

I am back in action! The bobbin issue was solved in about five minutes for $5--I had put the piece that holds the shuttle in place in incorrectly. D'oh! I only had to buy a set of new needles. That's good news.

I was also able to finish up the coasters in quilting class. I am putting together a few more sewing projects that I won't be able to show you because someone reads the blog.

I am in a bit of a bind though. I need to come up with an owl pillow for a boy who loves Harry Potter. I bought some fluffy white fleece, but I can't find a pattern anywhere. If you have any ideas, I'm listening!

I found these three tutorials for owl pillows.

my favourite is the last, it just seems more boyish, and it's nice and big.

I think you could adapt one of the patterns Sadie linked to. If it were me, I would do a basic head/body outline of the owl and sew on simple eyes and a beak. Then you could attach some wings. You might play around with a paper pattern first to try it out.

I like the "Hootie Hoo Family Pattern." Looking forward to seeing what you do.

(And for Christmas for an adult, although it's too late, I love the Santa with Owl pattern.)

Not quite what you're looking for, but I thought this was cute: http://www.dmc-usa.com/mjRS/1/doc/US_freedesigns/Half_Cross_Stitch/OWL_PS.pdf

You could use the pattern to work out an outline for a pillow, though.

Can't help with the pillow, but am very glad your machine is in action again and for $5 too!

Did you find an owl pattern? Jenny Hart(Sublime Stitching) has an owl on her Birds of Prey transfer I think.
