Hello, Cruel World!

Yesterday as I was driving to Jo-Ann's to get stuff to make this and this and a pinking rotary cutter (I hope to show you the results of that project soon), there was a huge line of traffic. About three miles before the Jo-Ann's exit, there is this fake third lane. It only lasts for about a mile, and you have to merge back down to two lanes well before the exit. So of course because the other two lanes were backed up, people were speeding down the fake lane, then screwing me over because they had to get back into my lane. I noticed that people were also driving in the break down lane (aka hard shoulder) to  take the exit. It was cheesing me off real bad. I inched along legally getting angrier and angrier that there's never a cop around when you need one.

But there was. He had pulled over five cars that were using the break down lane. He had blocked it with his car and was catching them like flies in his web. I rolled down my window and said "ha, ha!" as I crawled past each car. Terribly petty, I'm the first to admit, but you do not know how good it made me feel for driving responsibly. For a change.

You may not have noticed, but blogger is letting its users make separate pages. I have made two and may make another. One is my wish list. The other is far more important and useful. Since we agree that it isn't Just Cross Stitch's  photography that makes us want to stitch their ornaments--it's the photos on our friends' blogs--I've made a collection of links to photos of completed projects from the 2010 issue. So far only two links. As you stitch up the ornies--or find photos from someone else who has done so--please let me know and I'll add a link.

Perhaps eventually we will have links to all of the 2010 ornaments, and we'll change our minds about whether we should keep buying the magazine.

That's a great idea! I finally got hold of a copy of the current magazine today and I have been cutting fabric like a madwoman this afternoon ;) Hopefully I'll have some finishes to share before too long.

At the end of a long day, nothing makes me happier than to see the DC police towing illegally parked cars off Constitution Avenue. One tourist who left his or her car parked during evening rush hour can screw up the traffic for blocks.

I love it that the cops got the annoying drivers for once - that really torques me when people speed past the ones who have merged responsibly and expect to go to the front of the line and then be let in! Even worse than that is the weaving drivers on the freeway trying to get 3 car lengths ahead of you....grrrrr! Great idea posting the links to the ornaments....not sure if I will buy...I already have many issues sitting here and rarely stitch any ornaments but the magazines are there JUST IN CASE lol.

A few days ago I was behind an impaired driver --- eventually, they turned left & the guy behind me flipped him off. I was so relieved the guy behind me did that. I laughed.

As for the pages, they are very useful. I've used them on our EGA chapter blog for basic info.

I like your both of your ideas for pages. Very nice.

That bugs me too. But what ALSO drives me bonkers in the motorcyclist who weaves through regular, every-day backed up traffic. And every summer they put up huge billboards telling drivers to "Watch out" for motorcyclists! I wish just once they would change the sign to say "Be courteous and wait your turn, motorcyclists!"

Annnd I'm done......

I was just talking with someone about this yesterday, and if I could remember who it was I'd send them a link to your ha-ha payoff!

My photos aren't nearly as lovely as the ones you've already posted, but I've done a couple. http://needleinhand.blogspot.com

Pages! Simply brilliant. Thank you for pointing this out to me!

The other thing that really grinds my grits in traffic is when there's an accident in such-and-such lane and everyone in that lane decides a mile before the accident that they HAVE to move over to the other lane. What ALL should do instead is use the ZIPPER method at a certain point before the accident those that NEED to move over are politely allowed to by those that are ALREADY over. And everything moves so much better!

Don't get me started on bad drivers. I can't count the number of times Baby Man and I have been nearly hit when we were crossing the road properly. The last time was just this past Friday, and the lady literally stopped inches from Baby Man's legs because I yelled at her. Awful.

Anyway, great idea about creating a link to ornament pictures. I'll be sure to let you know when/if I stitch any.

Oh, and thanks again so much for your generosity. :D

Hey, I did not know about the two pages deal with blogger...when I get some time I will check into it and figure out how to apply that to my blog, thanks!

Grrr to ALL those bad drivers! Can't stand when people do that. Reminds me of the exit to my son's apt. in Manhattan.

I thought this sort of bad driving only occurred in The Netherlands, so I'm very happy to find out that it's being done over there too. Sorry for you, though.

I didn't know about the pages either, but I will be following your ornie issue page closely. Maybe I will be inspired to get my own copy after all.

Clearly these 'line jumpers' are more important than anyone else and have a right to be at the front of the line.... jerks. This happens to me every single day, the line jumpers and the weavers and of course, my very favorites...the tailgaters. Hello! I can only go as fast as the car ahead of me, stop getting pissed that we aren't moving as fast as you'd like, so you want to punish me by being up my tail pipe. I hope some day I'll get my ha-ha payback moment.

I live across from an elementary school on a major commuter road into the city. I can't even begin to tell you how many people fail to yield for the crosswalk. DH had words with one repeat offender. I finally caught her license plate number and sent it to our neighborhood council rep, who forwarded it to the cops. The next day, there was a cop out front monitoring traffic.

I'm thinking you go to the JoAnn's that I go to when I visit my mom and I believe I know where you are talking about. Aren't you close to an AC Moore too?

Love, love, love that they all got busted! My favorite is when someone in the correct lane moves over a bit to try and block the break down lane and people go flying right past anyway. I bet that cop made his monthly quota that day. As for laughing at them, I totally admire your attitude!

I finally got my pages up. I decided on using my book list for this year + my 'list' which I started in 2008. It keeps me on track & is so beat up, thought best to actually have it on line : )

I hate those people... too good to wait in line for the highway exit like the rest of us? I *never* let them squeak through in front of me LOL
