Winner, Winner

Aussie Stitcher wrote to tell me that she's received her prize from last month's blogiversary drawing. That thing really flew to Australia is all I have to say because I just mailed it a week ago.

I love how Tanya finishes her pieces a bit off-center, and I thought that would be perfect for this piece. I did decide to go with a pillow instead of a wall hanging, mostly because I have become so awesome at making pillows. It's my go-to finish. As I was photographing this delightful pillow, I was thinking everyone needs one for Christmas. But then I exhaled and realized, a woman's got to know her limitations, with apologies to Clint.

I found the wooden star buttons as I was wondering around Joann's in a daze--am I the only one who does that? You go to the craft store to buy something specific and once you find it, it's like you're in a Vegas casino, where you can't head straight for the door. Instead you find yourself wandering through the button section or the scrapbooking section or the frames...and you realize you are feeling lightheaded, like you are out of your mind. My sister used to call it my "Ben Franklin orgasm" back in the day when Ben Franklin was a craft store, and not an old man wandering around Philadelphia.

Anyway, I forgot to buy lining fabric for my tote, and I really want to finish this today. Let's hope I can get out of Joann's with my head screwed on straight...as it were.

I love your finish of this design. May have to go that route myself. Have the pattern, but thought that framing was the way to go. Like your idea so much better - more cost effective! The buttons are a great touch - and yes, I've had those moments in Joanne's myself!

Lovely Finish! Love how the buttons coordinate so well. And I go into a daze at Joann's...and Michael's too. :)

Perfect finish and buttons too. I go into a daze in Hobby Craft even though it's not a very good shop, all the zombie assistants have their mouths permanently open and I am reminded of the Mary Poppins moment 'we are not a codfish!'

Well that turned out perfectly, didn't it?! The stars look spiffy...I'm going to have to copy that idea (assuming I can find wooden star buttons).

Great finish! I stitched this, then framed it and had it hanging in my entryway over the closet until my dad said something like, "you're offering peace to all who enter your closet? Why would you do THAT?" Yep, I moved it...

I often wander around Joann's in a daze - especially when I have a 40% or 50% off coupon and everything I could possible want/need is ALREADY on sale! Why do they do that to me? God forbid I should walk out of there without using a coupon!

Yup, the bead aisle gets me every time. I don't bead. I don't do jewelry. I'd like to do some scissor fobs sometime, but I haven't. Nevertheless I wander through the bead aisle and look, though it is the crystals that usually make me stop and drool. Good thing I usually don't buy anything.

Thanks for the video link for the wedding! I saw a newspaper story about it back when but this was my first time seeing it from TV.

Love the pillow too and the buttons are perfect for it.

Oh goodness I thought I was the only one to do that at Joann's. Esp. in the button section (or worse)the scrapbooking section... when I don't even scrapbook. Yeesh!

Ever heard of VIX? Is is a consignment craft/gift store in W Philly, and they just reopened after the owner's maternity leave. Would you ever consider making items to sell?
