Love Your Loved One's Ties

When my father-in-law died suddenly and unexpectedly, I collected up his silk ties. And though his children aren't quite ready for me to make anything from them (I'm thinking roses because they can be pinned onto a pillow or worn--and the process doesn't really end the life of the tie) I understand the impetus of the designer of these memory albums.

This was a fairly easy project, except that I developed the worst cough overnight and dragging my ass upstairs to work on this has been a daylong project. I can't sit upright for too many consecutive minutes.

Gotta go lie down.

What a great idea. I only own two ties, my old school ties. I think that is one more than hubby owns!

Do you have a craft for making memories from 90,000 black tshirts with various bands' names on? LOL

T-shirt quilt. Use red or another bold color between. Or even some really cool skull and roses material.

Lewmew beat me to it. And the cure for the other problem is the thrift shop/charity shop. All the ties in this project were from there.

This is a beautiful project -- I love the colors and all. Feel better -- what a bummer that you caught something.

That would be a great way to share with family members. Wish I had seen that after my dad died. He was always happiest when he had a tie on. Hope you feel better!

Ooh, that's fantastic! My Dad never wore ties, but I made a quilt out of his sweaters.

Feel better soon, dear!

Cute project. I may have to do this with some of Paul's old Liberty ties that are starting to wear thin around the neck.

Sorry to hear you're sick. I've had something nasty for the past 1.5 weeks, too. It's no fun. Hope the cough calms down soon.

Since I am in the final stages of a week long cough/cold/post nasal thing, I feel for you. Unlike you, though, I haven't managed any crafting between coughing spasms. Although I have raised self-pity to an art form over the past few days.

You are a stronger woman than I.

Clever idea. There are lots of ties at our local thrift shop and I have often looked at them and wondered what I could use them for. Hope you will be feeling better soon.
