Library Friday

Yesterday, I worked on Lizzie*Kate's Dog Lessons for People at my library stitching. We had a surprise visit from our friend who is having cancer treatment. It was so wonderful to see her. She's knitting washcloths because that's all she can concentrate on but there she was, knitting away. She also lacks the focus for reading but not for jigsaw puzzles. She chatted with all of us individually thanking us for whatever little thing we had done for her. She's a classy broad. I hope she comes back again soon. Probably not next week, though.

Next week we are having a royal wedding party. {eye roll} We're going to watch BBC America's endless loop o' coverage, wear tiaras, and eat scones with our tea. (Yes, we had to have a long discussion about the pronunciation of that word.) I'm making Martha Stewart's mini carrot muffins and Nigella Lawson's Eton Mess.

I know I've mentioned before how absolutely over the royal wedding I am. Seriously, I would sooner stitch a celebrity face in cross stitch than a royal wedding sampler. The first time I saw one of those I thought WTF? I also thought some things that I'm sure would offend many, many people, mostly Americans... We all watched this in 1981 (In truth, I didn't; I was at cheerleading camp--way more important than royalty!) and we know how that turned out. I just don't get it at all. Fortunately for me, the Brit I married isn't much of a royalist.

I knew I loved him when I figured out he didn't believe in fairy tales.

Oh Yeah! I can just see you there in your tiara sipping tea and nibbling scones. I'm with you... why on earth would I want to watch a total stranger's wedding? No matter who they are or how much money they have, I just can't make myself give a darn.

Your LK piece is coming along nicely! I'm kind of curious about her gown but other than that, not do much. I also don't get spending one minute of my stitching time working on a royal sampler. Seriously!?

It's "sc-oh-ne" if you're from the South of England and "scon" if you're from the north!

Apart from the Stone of Scone which is pronounced "Scoon" and isn't even a scone! But that's in Scotland and not in England.

Most of us are just happy to have another day off work :-)

You said it. I didn't care about the last wedding so much that I don't even remember what time of year it was... I do recall I was a junior in high school...or on my way to being a senior if it was during the summer. (I'm guessing it was summer only because you said you were at cheerleading camp!)

We want pictures of your festivities next week, though.

I barely even know a royal wedding is about to happen. Life is much quieter when you don't have cable.

And I agree with you about stitching royal wedding samplers. I saw one in a UK magazine today, and while the design itself was nice, the computer generated faces on it were awful. But, it seems to me, from what little royal wedding memorabilia I have seen, that most of it is pretty bad.

I'll be waiting to see a picture of you in your tiara with your tea!

If it's any consolation ( well it probably won't be!) I'm a Brit,I am sick of hearing about the royal wedding and I won't be watching it! Lol!

Your L*K is looking good.

Someone in DH's office brought us back a commemorative ashtray from a recent trip to London. An ASHTRAY! (or really small candy disk with cut outs on the side)

It's pretty tacky, especially the peel-n-stick image on the bottom. Wonder if I should put it up on eBay.

I started my Dog Lessons for People the other week. I got as far as "When a gr" before I stopped. I have a ways to go before I catch up to you. :)
