Swirlygig Contest, closing today

Today is the last day to enter the Swirlygig Challenge. I have received some photos of some beautiful work! Stitchers can be so creative.

Something one entrant said made me think about how we should vote: "Even if I don't get any votes, I'm happy with it."

This reminded me when I was a kid and I ran for some class office. I had to watch and see how many of my classmates voted against me. And then I had to put on a brave face as I stood in front of the whole class, knowing the outcome, while my opponent was announced as the winner. (For some reason, the voting kids had their heads down on their desks, but I was standing in front of the class. Naked. Oh, wait, that was the recurring nightmare part.) Anyway, Not Happy. So, I've determined that you won't vote in the comments. No, you'll send me an e-mail. And then I will tell everyone that they lost by one vote, as if you auditioned for Jeopardy (they tell you you missed by one, so you don't look like a big loser to your friends and family who really think YOU should be on Jeopardy). Anyway, I think it's much nicer to think you were close than to know how far off you really were. And how far off you were is a secret I shall carry to my grave. Because I know how that feels.

Anyway, I hope you all will be patient with me as I resize the photos and pop them up in some kind of order for your admiration and consideration. Then we'll have the voting for some period of time, and finally, winners will be announced.

But the way I see it, you're all winners!

Very sensitive of you. Although some of us are perfectionists who NEED to know the margin so we can do better next time. ;) *waiting, waiting*

See? This is why you should be President. Everybody gets to participate, somebody wins, others lose, but nobody feels poorly over the whole thing.

Why can't they run EVERYTHING like this?

(I'm thinking especially of beauty pagents for toddlers....poor little dears having to stand up there with thier spray tans and eyelashes on, only to find out they are not, in fact, Grand Supreme. Of anything.)

I think this is a lovely idea. I'm sending my entry in soon, and I don't care by how much I lose. I just want to see how other people interpreted the design.

Didn't you just post about the contest yesterday? Seriously? Where did that time go?

I look forward to seeing the entries.

For some reason, I thought the end date was the end of the month ... uh oh, guess I boobed as it's the 17th over here now and my bit still isn't finish-finished!

Waiting in an-tinsel-pation!

Yeah, why aren't you president? You could sort out the health crisis and make everyone cross stitch at the same time!

Sounds ideal to me!
