I have been working for real on Anna's Bird.

I'm a little sad today. We had a dog come by for a home visit, and she bit the dude. I knew she had problems: she used to belong to an old woman who used a walker, and she kept the dog in a kennel nearly all the time. This lab-mix was nine but had the energy of a 5 year old because she's hardly been exercised. Anyway, the dude was walking behind her on the stairs, and she went for him. I know I could handle her, and some socialization would take care of this, but the dude's never had a dog so we really need something move-in ready. The good news is that we've decided to volunteer at a shelter so we can meet a wide variety of animals and maybe find one more suited to our situation. Sometimes doing the right thing makes you feel really, really bad.

Anna's Bird looks great!
Too bad about the dog. I'm sure you'll find the right one, though. I admire you for voluntering at the shelter.

Yes, sometimes shelter animals are there for a reason. We once got a wonderful cat from a shelter. He had been abused, still had bb pellets in his fur. We had him for several years. Although he was lovely around us and our friends, he bit two strangers fairly badly. So after the second attack we decided put him to sleep. Although pedigree animals are not always reliable either, we decided to stick to animals with a known mother and father. With raising hundreds of kittens, there was still one who could not be socialized and we also put him to sleep. Most breeders will guarantee their animals. I would rather take back a kitten who did not work out than find it in a shelter.
Love your stitched bird. The whole thing looks wonderful and I admire anyone who can do it on dark linen like this.
It's sad about the dog but you've got to heed the warning signs about compatibility I think. Good luck.
ps catching up on the last few posts, I had a laugh over the lose and loose. Incorrect use drive me nuts, especially in books where you wonder if any of it was edited for grammar.
Sad news about the dog. Hope an alternative comes up soon.
Love the progress on the bird - won't be long before you move onto your next WIP
Anna,
This is just absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE it. Maybe one day - I have the chart (I think) and one day. Lots of Love Patti xxx
Your bird is ...WOW!! Just beautiful!
That looks gorgeous!d
Oh, poor dude. Your dog is out there, I just know it.
Your stitching is lovely, Hubble.
You'll find the right dog, it just take times, especially with rescues. Sorry the Dude got bit. The spousal unit has been bit twice this week, one of the perils of being a package delivery person.
So sorry to hear about the dog and the dude-biting. Your Anna's bird is gorgeous, those colors are stunning against the black!
Having had a biting dog in the past, I can say that you really did do the right thing. She'll be MUCH happier in a home that has experience with this sort of problem. Our dog went to a woman who specialized in behaviorally challenged dogs and was SO much happier. I can imagine how disappointed you feel, though.
Volunteering at the shelter will be a lot of fun. I miss it. As soon as Arden's old enough, I'll be back there like a flash!
Wow that looks fantastic! You've made so much progress you'll be done soon!
I understand. We had a cat that came to live with us for a while who totally tried to take over the house. She just wasn't right for us. Sometimes it happens that way.
Wow, great progress on Anna's Bird!
I'm sorry about the dog. The right one is out there!
Good looking progress! The right dog is waiting for you.
