Bird is the Word

Thanks to everyone who voted on my May project. Should I finish this, I will move on to Tree of Life Window then Apple Sampler. (Now that's optimistic!)

Right now--nearly 11:00--I am trying to motivate to clean my house. I have 11 people coming to dinner at 6:00. Monday is my usual cleaning day (downstairs--I clean upstairs on Tuesday) but I've got to do the second bathroom and vacuum the stairs today too. I also have to shop. And make meatloaves. Two or three? Two of the 11 are children and two more eat like children, well, as much as children. I also need to get beer. (Which, because Pennsylvania is an ass-backwards state, means going to a separate place--not the grocery store--to buy beer. Grr.) And did I mention I'm still in pajamas? Yet...here I sit reading e-mail and your blogs. Because I'm never happy if I'm not being bitten in the ass by deadlines.

Anyway, when everyone leaves tonight, we'll turn on the dvr'ed High Stakes Poker and I'll stitch on Anna's Bird. Better find a place for that white towel.

At least May is a long month, so you've got a good shot at getting it done. For some reason I'm liking it more now than when you first posted it. Good luck with the dinner party. My kids all love meatloaf, that's definitely a good choice in my book.

Yay! It'll be beautiful when done.

Good luck with your stitching! The manner of buying beer in PA cracked me up to no end when I was there (we had to walk thru the drive-thru place) and people here do not believe me when I tell the story.

Recently, two of our grocers have opened beer distributors that adjoin their grocery departments. It's reasonably convenient, except you have to treat it like two separate stores and so you must check out twice. I'm sure we'll NEVER be able to buy wine like that, though. Sigh.

Enjoy your dinner party!

We moved from the Pittsburgh suburbs to CA in 1982. I would have thought things would have relaxed in PA by now. I remember tagging along with my parents to the drive through beer distributor and to the State Store for wine and spirits. It used to piss my mom off to no end, and she had been born and raised in the state.

I was 20 when we moved out to California, so I had done most of my drinking and beer purchases across the border in West Virginia where the legal age was still 18 at the time.

Your piece is lovely.

You know guests are the biggest motivation to get the house cleaned!

In Ontario we have to go to "The Beer Store" (really that's what its called) to get beer and malt related beverages. If you want wine or liquor you go to the LCBO. Yup, yet another store!

I love this piece so much - the colors are fantastic. That beer situation totally sucks...what a pain in the ass.
