Thanks

On Tuesday, I was looking ahead to taking pictures, so I didn't stop to say thank you for all your kind comments. That's been happening a lot to me lately because of the situation at work. I'm looking ahead and fighting imaginary battles. They tell you, in these cases, to prepare for the worst and hope for the best, but I am so unimaginative that I cannot even think about how bad things can get. I told the big boss that I was unsatisfied in my discussions with the AVP. He told me he could review my job situation after July 17. Right, after you get a month's work for a low, low price. So I told him that was a long time to wait when I am being expected to do 60 hours worth of work. He said we can talk about it when the AVP returns. My cousin's husband keeps saying let them fire you, rather than quit, but I think they don't care how little work I do in protest of my treatment. I think something's better than nothing as far as they're concerned. Tomorrow he's going over the SWOT analysis with my "group." What a joke. I'll tell him what the biggest threat to my department is! My favorite part is that we've been told we can be honest because "there's no place for your name." Of course, if you're the only person in your department...

Anyway, derailed again. I came here to say thank you for all your comments on my picture gallery.

Thank you!

What on earth is a SWOT? Sounds painful, at any rate.

Well... you knew this place was dysfunctional and getting worse, so none of this is much of a surprise. Honesty is the best policy, because it doesn't seem to matter that incompetents are in high places. (Incompetents even higher up hired them in the first place.) You just need to get an EXIT strategy in place and execute it. You can hope for things to get better, but the prognosis is slim for anything to change. You need to start over anywhere else. Even if temporary, it would let you regain your perspective -- no, not ALL non-profits are crazy -- and give you some time to find out exactly what you want to do. Good Luck getting away from there.

You are very welcome for the comments. What a bummer about the big boss not wanting to make a decision, is he a weak sort of individual? Take care {{{HUGS}}}

SWOT= a bullshit consultant's analysis of the strengths weaknesses opportunities and threats (to your department)

I feel for you. I am in a similar place. If and when you relocate, please avoid working for any diocese or archdiocese of the Catholic Church ... they are the masters of the "do as I say, not as I do" standard of personnel management ... I should take my own advice but I feel too strong a pull from the people I actually serve rather than the clerical chauvinist pigs who sign my paychecks, such as they are ... no raise in two years ... working $2000 below even the pitiful NY Arch guidelines for salary ... job description and hours ever expanding ... and the new pastor is an absent-minded micro-manager who can't remember from one day to the next what decisions he has made.

I agree with your definition of SWOT. It's a waste of time just so you can put something on paper.

Under "threats" have you bolded and italicized "hierachy's stupidity?" ;-) Sorry. You're not alone. I can vouch for a**es everywhere, but it really doesn't help.
