Another (Small) (and Late) Finish

Always You (from the Maroon 5 song?) was stitched for our anniversary (July 14, 2019) but I started September 2. After all this time, the dude knows my limitations. 😉

You saw it in November when I optimistically thought I'd get it done last year. At last!

I've picked up Our Souls, which was our anniversary sampler from...(checks watch)...2014. (Sigh) I like how optimistic I was in 2017 that I'd finish it as soon as I got to the shop to pick up more floss...which I ordered yesterday.

Maybe There's Been a Bit of Stitching...

I lied a tiny bit. I have done a small amount of stitching. One day, months after our anniversary, I picked up a piece to stitch for the dude.

Not finished yet, but I'll probably get it done before the end of the year. I picked a small one; a girl's got to know her limitations.

I've also started ornaments for the girls. I'll show you later, I don't want to spend it all in one place.

I worked on "Always You" on the way to visit the aquarium with the girls. (Thank you. Yes. Twins. Five.) (None of us found Shark Bridge even a little scary.)

Finishing Frenzy, Picture 1

I finished this last night. I was using a scrap of cord, so I had to make it fit which accounts for why it's all scrunched up on the bottom. Still, better to have it on the tree than in the to-be-finished pile another year. Previously pictured here. Written about here. So there you have it. Ten years start to finish-finish. Perhaps I ought to be more ashamed than I am. (Here's some perspective: I stitched it in two days 11/11/99-11/13/99. D'oh.)

Since I finished this so early in the month, I'm going to call it February's finish and try to get another in...or am I flying too high on wings of pastrami?

Anniversary

Today is our seventh wedding anniversary. And this is what I made the dude.

It's the 2001 Collectors Heart from Heart in Hand Needleart. I stitched it in the called for colors, substituting beachcomber for the (now retired) julep.

I sewed the pieces as a sort of flat pillow (there was no way I was hem stitching in my condition). I then attached it to a second piece of linen. I probably should have let them do that. Well, I didn't know they would until I got there. It came out a little lumpy in the end. I had them make a shadowbox. Some days I think it's cute. Some days I think it's attrocious.

Kind of like the dude. (Just kidding. I'm the anti-romantic. Really if I waxed poetic about my love for the dude he might vomit a little in his mouth. I know I would. And he certainly wouldn't believe me.)

This is the third of these that I have stitched (with August and January). I think it may be time to add these to my rotation on a regular basis.
