I've come to that point in the year where I realize I need to be three places at once stirring a cookie dough while wrapping presents. The list has gone from what I'd like to do, to what I need to do, to what I can possibly do over the next week. What I need is a wife. Some of you may have read Judy Brady (Syfers)'s article back in the day or later in your feminist theory class (I have a sneaking suspicion not a lot of you were in feminist theory courses, but I can dream...) (Anyway, if you've never read it, I found it for you; go have a look.)
Adrienne of Martini Made has a question for you all. She needs pattern ideas for a 12 year old beginner cross-stitcher. I thought the Mary Kirby series from Bright Needle; Lizzie * Kate or Bent Creek, especially early patterns; or the Just a Quickie series of monsters from Amy Bruecken (pictured).
Do you all have anything to suggest? Many thanks.

I think we all need someone to be helping us out at this what always turns out to be a stressful time of the year.
I remember telling one of my male colleagues in grad school just that: "I need a wife!"
He had asked me why I looked so haggard and I explained that I'd been up most of the night fighting with a recalcitrant portable electric typewriter that ate ribbons, trying to get a paper typed and he airily explained that his wife typed all his papers for him, so he didn't have to worry about such things. He was scandalized by my response as if I had wished for something unnatural.
He took his wife for granted, clearly and I found myself wishing she would divorce his sorry ass so he could learn about the joys of keeping house, working part-time and going to grad school full time.
Well, I never took a feminist theory class and am probably just the kind of person you were thinking about when you said probably not a lot of you did, lol. *But* I have sooooo often had the same thought of needing a wife, lol. And for the same reasons you gave. It would be so nice to have someone to lighten the load. If I had about three of me, that would be perfect. Some days, ok most days, there is more to do than time or energy to do them.
I'm with you on this one! I definitely need a wife, or then, thinking again, maybe it is just the husband I need LOL
I too long for a wife or the concierge that places like Google have!
I do remember this one from feminist theory. With the arrival of baby 2, I often find myself wishing for a wife lately. I think each kid needs about 1.5 parents, so a wife would be just the thing.
My friend Donna often laments that she needs a wife, as well (same reasoning). I'd rather just get paid a great salary to stay at home and do all the chores and run all the errands that I try to get done in a regular week.
As far as stitching, I started on the Better Homes & Gardens cross stitch primer. But it wasn't terribly engaging.
I've decided three parents is about right, especially if you can convince one of them that cleaning is the most awesome thing ever.
I did find an etsy source for a cross stitch kit that I think my Tween would enjoy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Sewingseed?ref=l2-shopheader-name
I went with the hamster in a balloon wearing a party hat. Because why not?
Lizzie Kate...can't go wrong with her especially the early ones :)
Nope, no feminist theory classes for me...but I'd like to have a wife too ;)
Ha! I've often lamented that I need a wife ! Sometimes my 17yo daughter fills in as a PA. :)
Yep! Me too. x
Definitely Lizzie Kate !
I don't know if they do classes like that here but I would have lived a wife when I worked full time. I did overtime one weekend (every office move they got a few of the lads in to help and i insisted they had to let me do it too because I'm just as handy with a screwdriver and I can read CAD plans). I stayed over at a male colleague's house and his girlfriend cooked us tea, ran me a bath and made our sandwiches for the next day! What a woman LOL.
Anyway my hubby is pretty useful too, there is usually a cup of coffee ready when I get in from work and the toilet had been bleached today too!
I want a personal assistant / wife / secretary, too!
