Ninety-nine Problems but a Stitch Ain't One

Here is my ornament for the SAL or I should say "ornament" or maybe "SAL". At any rate, this is where this adorable ornament was stopped for lack of silk threads. It will simply have to do.

In the meantime, I was soldiering on with Crazy Love. Until I noticed...what the what? Look at that L. It's supposed to line up with the E. Yikes! That is one low-down and dirty L. As I see it, I have a few options. I could just go on with it as is. I mean, the designer designed the L backwards, why can't my L ride low? Or I could extend it so it was as tall as the V. Then it would look like a design element--or a capital. There are those of you, of course, who would suggest I rip it all out. I'm not listening to you. No matter what.

Put some flowers under the e, borrow an element from somewhere else in the design. You will have personalized it and made it your own.

Love the ornament your working on Nikki. I agree with Chris, maybe put one of the flowers thats by the L under the E and extend the L even with the V. There you go - problem solved.

You definitely don't need to rip out the L. I like the suggestions given already. I love that piece!! Wow! And your ornie is pretty too -- bummer about running out of silk. :(

I don't think you need to do anything else to it. The L looks fine where it is and it really doesn't need anything under the E. Maybe I am crazy but I like to think that the longer in Love the higher you go. Corny....I know.... But it does look fine!! Think outside the box!!

I think it looks perfect the way it is.

I think it looks good as it is, no need to change or add anything. Don't think I would have noticed anything if you have not brought it up.

Now I want to do that birdie ornament. It looks so pretty.

Love looks fine or you could modify it. But in no way would I frog it for soomething like that. All the fun is is in the fix-up!

I love your L riding low! Makes it even more crazy!

What bugs me about the L isn't that it is riding low but that it isn't well kerned. I agree on the extra flowers or flourishes in the white space.

I like your 'L' where you stitched. I definitely wouldn't rip it out. If the blank space bothers you, then add flowers.

DO NOT rip it out. That's ridiculous. Extend it up, add some flowers or flourishes, whatever. But no ripping it out. Also, I am completely on board with Adrienne's comment on the kerning. She nailed it.

If you hadn't said anything, I would never have thought it wasn't exactly as it should be. I think it looks great like it is.

Both pieces are really pretty! I stand firmly against frogging wherever possible. Interesting comments and ideas. It'll be fun to see what you decide to do!

Both are lovely. I think you should leave that L right where it is!

I'm in the "I think it looks great as it is " camp...saying that I must confess that if it wre me (and I am annal beyond belief) I'd ende up pulling my hair out and then ripping out the L (and cursng a lot!).

Love your "Love" piece--just add a simple winding vine with some of the yellow or red flower buds underneath and no one would ever know it was not aligned :)

I like it the way it is! If you don't like the blank space under the "E", then you could stitch your wedding date with both of your initials, or you could stitch a few small hearts. Now I want to stitch this pattern!

No ripping! We are against ripping here! We are not perfectionists! There are too many samplers and projects IMO to be ripping things out willy-nilly. It looks fine as is--better than fine. It's L for quite Lovely.

I've stitched Joy and loved it - it's even finished. Would leave Love's L as is.

No frogging here! It's not like the other letters line up with it so I'd definitely do a work around.

I would not have noticed that there was any problem had you not pointed it out ... so I say go with it.

I like it exactly the way it is.

Rip it all out or leave it and 'sprinkle' some flowers - up to you, but I want to see what you have done with it!
