Classy

I've been asked to teach a class at our local adult school. A craft class...only, I have no idea what to teach. They've asked me based on the work I did during craft month. The woman who is recruiting me attends library stitching. She's been trying to get me to teach for ages. The thing is, I mostly feel like what I did was gluing stuff...that anyone could do it if they just follow the directions. So, dear reader, can I ask,

Which of last months crafts you might want to learn in a class?

I look forward to your answers in the comments or via email. Thanks! You're the best. :)

(As a former instructor, I know I can't lift the instructions from designers, and that I would have to change the projects slightly and create my own directions etc. So no worries there.)

The folded pop-up type cards you have shown--they are really cute.

How about a class about all the cool things you can do with old ties? The cool necklace that looks like beads, Easter eggs, and that bracelet you did. Those were all great crafts and could be enough to make a decent length class.

Hmmm. Well, the items made out of ties makes for a nice thematic class. And of course, your grand finale project was most impressive. But those Easter Eggs from the ties, and the tie bracelet, the tie scarf, etc. Just a thought.

I would go for something that is achievable in the time you have, where materials can be sourced easily and are not too expensive and a project that doesn't need special equipment so that a group can participate without having to wait to use something.
Typical answer from me - once a teacher always a teacher! Good luck Irene xxx

I don't really have advice on this, except to say be sure what you pick works for boys/men if males are in the class. But congrats on being asked. I would consider it to be an honor if someone valued my work that way.

I like some of the paper projects. The ornament with the jewel in the middle is one of my favorites. For the time of year you might not eant to do an ornament but go for a flower theme.

You might say "it's just glueing stuff" but how much glue, what type, how long does it take to dry, where do I out it, why doesn't mine look as good as your's? All questions I ask myself when I read your blog.
Obviously on the blog I just click the link and find out but in a class they'll have you showing them.
Most people learn best when they have a real person demonstrating stuff rather than reading it or following pictures.
I think the tie themed sessions would be great.

I tend to agree Nikki. Either one of the tie crafts or maybe a simple cross stitch bookmark.

Nikki, Not knowing the time you have or if these are "crafty" people, I would love to have a class from you with a simple paper project. Your box and cards are wonderful.
My other choice would be the earrings or "cute" spider/bug pin they could wear afterwards.
The tie crafts were really nice too.

I liked the cute little cupcakes you made, the tea holder - and I think card making would be interesting ... and well, I adore your fan! But I cant see everyone bringing a fan to class.

I have to agree with the ties (eggsm bracelet). Perhaps even something else with ties if you have something.

Second would be the ornament cross stitch.

Third would be the peony and perhaps some other flower techniques.

I would go for the necklace and/or bracelet idea.
Now I'm going back to see what everyone else thinks.
