More Schoolgirl Samplers

Hey cats and kittens,
These are the photos the Westtown School and Chester County Historical Society sent me. You can read about my trip here. I strongly encourage you to visit. I mean, look at all there is to see! Show ends September 7th, 2012.

Here you can see the two cases of globes and the many samplers. On the wall to the left of the globe case are the "excerpts." I didn't resize these photos like I usually do because I wanted you to get as much detail as you could when you click to enlarge them.

This shot shows some of the genealogical samplers. And far case--pinballs!

I think the reason they didn't send me any close ups of these beautiful pieces is that the Westtown School owns the rights to them. Possibly they were donated or lent to the school without the reproduction rights. That just means you have to go! See for yourself.

But wait, there's more! Actually I think there is another room they aren't showing at all. If you walk down that red wall to the far room and hook a right, that's where they are keeping the giant samplers that have ruched ribbon around the edges. An early form of matting? Just plain beautiful? I guess it is up to you to decide. Go. Decide. When I wrote to thank them for the photos, I put in a plug for another show like this. You can thank me later.

Looks so wonderful! I'll have to see if I can make it down there in time. Thanks for asking for photos to show us.

Thanks for the reminder that I have to get my bottom over there before it's gone!

Is this a traveling exhibit? Do you know what it's called or where it is going next? I'd love to see it.

It looks amazing! It's so good to see the samplers being preserved for us and the future stitchers.
