La Neige

This morning dawned snowy even though they swore up and down we weren't getting snow until this evening. Guess what? It's raining now. So they were wrong and wronger. Of course, I also woke up with a sore throat and scratchy voice. I've done nothing all day and still had to take a nap at 2:00.

Thank you for all your kind words about the marquoir. As promised, I did turn to Dimple's Designs' St. Basil's Cathedral. Unfortunately, my neighbor came over to work on a project with the dude and I talked his ear off instead of stitching. (Don't look too closely. Those yucky stitches have some sort of blending thread in them. Which thus far only serves to make my stitches look like crap.)

Yesterday I turned my attentions to Watercolor Geraniums. This pattern appeared in an old (1999) Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine. It has 44 different colors (including blended needles). Let me tell you what a pita it is to pull the flosses for this one. I should pick a month to finish it and just get 'er done.* If you're wondering what, exactly, I got done last night, look in the left corner above the pot.

Today I am practicing my French...knots that is. I'm going back to Teresa Layman's mermaid which I haven't worked on since 2009.

*This is the dude's motto for 2011. Thus the neighbor helping on the project.

We're getting quite the la neige here - another day off from school, which means I'm yet another day behind with work. They're going to have to change the tax season just for me, I think. (My job is with a free tax-prep program.)

The geraniums are lovely, and I don't usually like that sort of thing. It's lovely. :)

Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm wishing I was curled up in bed today. The geraniums are really pretty, but OMG those blended threads and having to pull 8,000 different colors - it kills me.

Great flower project! I once did a Dimensions kit that had a million blended colours and 10 miles of back stitching. It took ten years. No joke. I hated working on it - but now it's the one framed project that everyone ooooo's and ahhhhh's over. Idiots. Hope your scratchy throat turns out to be nothing but a mild malaise.

I once did a large project with blending filament and floss - pita is true. On another project I tried stitching the floss first. Go back later and just add a half stitch of the blending filament over the top. Sounds like more work but I found it easier to stitch and the sparkle shows better.
Like the geraniums!
Here today in California's Central Valley we have fog, fog, fog - very scary if you have to drive anywhere - can't see more than 2 car lengths in front of you!

Great motto dude! That is one of my favorites, mostly in conjunction with something I really really don't want to do and just want to get over with already.

We've had rain and freezing rain and snow here too. We even lost power for a whole day which really messes with stitching time. Impossible to stitch by candlelight.

Stay warm and feel better, your stitching looks wonderful. I don't think I've seen the geraniums before, what a pretty project!
