Crazy January Challenge: Day Twelve

Owl Winder Pocket
Just Nan
Random 32-count fabric from my stash
Called for fibers

Sandy explained to me that, hello, the "OD" is in the kit. So I apologize to Nan. When I looked in the baggy that held the cardboard and felt, there it was curled up and sandwiched between them. I hate these "kits" that have a tiny little schniglette of floss. That is not the definition of kit. Anyway it's just a schniglette of a start.

I'm not really a Just Nan person. I think a lot of her designs are prissy, excessive, Victorian, feminine...Can I think of any other slightly pejorative adjectives? Sorry. Not for me...usually. But my alma mater's mascot is an owl. And the floss winder itself is pretty and shiny. I like shiny.

Overpriced? Don't forget that one.

She has some really cute things, but you're right in that they're fussy. I don't like lots of color changes, and that seems to be a feature of Just Nan designs.

Schniglette.... awesome word. I like this start, the colour appeals to me.

I agree with you and Kristen. Just Nan designs are prissy, excessive, Victorian, feminine, fussy and overpriced. I just love 'em! :D Hmmm... what does that say about me? ;)

Schniglette - great word! JN is not really my cup of tea either - but, I'll be anxious to see what your little owl pocket looks like and I do really like the color in the outline. Funny that I don't care for JN pieces 'cause I'm such a lover of all things glittery and sparkly. Okay, the glittery and sparkly things I like generally go on my wrists, neck, fingers, but still......

I've been catching up after missing you for several days. I love all your little projects and am looking forward to Day 16 to find out what your plan is.

Re: Day 8 - I know you have let the RR go but DAMN I'm annoyed.

I love Just Nan designs. They're cute, and sometimes I just have to give in to cute (though not very often). Oh, and don't forget quick and easy. I don't have a problem with feminine either.

I'm a fan of stitching primitive patterns (think Prairie Schooler and Blackbird Designs), so Just Nan isn't my style at all. On the other hand, I enjoy a pejorative adjective or two. And "schniglette" makes a pretty great noun as well.

Maybe I should have just said I enjoy the English language. I'm not sure that comment says what I really intended. (So much for my mastery of said English language.)

Add me to the list of not JN fans. I did stitch her Lady Scarlett's Journey and that was cute. I think it's much prettier when it's stitched as opposed to the chart pics. Can't wait to see more of your WIP!

I like Just Nan designs, but I agree they can be a little twee sometimes.

Just Nan. I really like some of her smalls designs, and have a few yet in my stash that I plan to stitch. But she gets on my nerves. I have no idea why. Glad to see you've "crossed over." ;)

I have been unable to resist some Just Nan designs - like the Halloween ort box from Silver Needle. However I really don't like the actual stitching - too many color changes, confetti stitches - too cutesy and cartoon-y, not my thing at all.
With that said I do like the owl winder but I've resisted because every time I do a Just Nan piece I get annoyed. Hopefully you will enjoy it and show us how great it looks when you're done!
