That Dern Parrot
Sheepish Designs
40-ct WDW Beige
Called for DMC and GAST threads
This pattern was sent to me by Paula D for my birthday exchange in 2009. It was love at first sight. And it's finished as a mattress, which will be my first attempt at that finishing technique...eventually.
The pattern calls for two strands over two threads on the 40-ct which is very full. I'm finding it a little difficult to stitch. I may put this on q-snaps because it's slightly easier going when I stretch the fabric.

Am I crazy, or are you going to end up with 31 UFOs at the end of this challenge????
I agree, it does look 'tight' would one strand give you adequate coverage?
I would think that would pretty tight with two threads - over one on 32 with two I thought was tight.... I can't stitch anything without having it on scroll rods and adequately stretched. Hope the q snaps make it easier for you!
That looks great, I can imagine 2 strands is really tight on that fabric though
2 strands over 2 on 40 count? Yowza!! You're a better woman than I am for having a go at that. Is the entire design stitched with 2 strands?
You are most definitely a brave woman! Personally, I would have have broken the rules and just went with one strand on the 40 count. I don't know how you do it!
You know, I don't think I'd want to do that - I don't even want to do anything on 40 count. But, I love the way it looks, how it stands away from the fabric.

I agree, it looks nice with 2 strands. It makes me curious as to how it would look using 1 strand.
Another fun start. I've never stitched on 40 ct -- good luck!
Hey girl! I can't imagine why I didn't fall off of everyone's blog reader - I went poof for a seriously long time. I had a blast reading through your challenge starts. I thought I was about the only one who had charts by The City Stitcher. She has such awesome designs and doesn't seem to be very well known any more.
Two strands on 40 count? That would drive me bonkers, but your stitches look great in the picture. I haven't tried a mattress finish yet either, and this may not be the year for it.
I can't get 2 strands to lay down on 40 ct, unless it's a very fine silk. I wind up with a lumpish mess. I have one never-to-be-resumed UFO because of this. :P
I love seeing people still stitching Sheepish Designs - they are one of my all-time favorites! Good Luck with your 2011 Challenge!
Aw, Sheepish Designs. Miss her. I have a WIP that I'm stitching 2 over 2 on 36-ct. That's half of the reason it's still a WIP. I wouldn't stitch 2 over 2 on 40-ct. unless there were blended threads involved, and then I would grouse the whole time.
