Vacances

I know, we got back Tuesday evening and I couldn't write until today? Am I killing you with the suspense?

Yesterday, I had to have a mole removed. It was located on my right breast right where a v-neck exposes it. Don't tell me I should stop wearing v-necks; Trinny and Susannah say I must, and I tend to agree with them. Yesterday, as the dude was driving me to the hospital, the phone rang; it was my dermatologist's office. They need to reschedule me. Again. I have seen this doctor twice and both times some nimrod in the office didn't know when the doctor was in. Anyway, the dude was pissed and the dude doesn't do pissed. His pissed rubbed off on me, and I got an appointment for the same day, just later. So now I am sporting a nasty looking two inch crusty, bruised cut on my once beautiful breast. She did, however, put the stitches on the inside so that someday these golden orbs will once again shine brightly in my firmament. Or something.

I can't walk the dog for a week.

The doctor also gave the dude a check up because people with moles on their heads should get check ups. She was trying to make up for pissing him off. In the end, she told him he didn't really need a dermatologist. So he is full of moles, I have far fewer; he is benign, I am deadly. Or as they assure me, pre-deadly. Sigh.

So, Maine. We had two great days--the first two--followed by cold and rainy weather. Which is pretty much how every trip we take to Maine goes. Fortunately, the dude's from England and pretty much every summer vacation he has ever taken started out with two nice days followed by many more cold and rainy ones. I ate lots of lobster; went to the Maine Diner; met up with two friends from grad school, one of whom is now a dean which freaks me the fuck out (I can recommend drinking at Sebago Brewing, but not eating there); we had lunch with my grandmother and aunt and played Left, Right, and Center with them (I won one of the three rounds we played) which we did instead of going fishing because of the small craft warnings. I re-read (by accident) both Knitting Bones and Knit One, Kill Two. I got hooked on the Spellmans and read the first three of Lisa Lutz's books. I bought these new clogs on one of our rainy days. And in the car, I worked on Tree of Life Window. Photos when I unpack the camera.

I agree on the review of Sebago - not that great for food and I love the Diner - can't wait for the tourists to leave it to the locals! Glad you got at least two good days. It's turning very fally. I hope we can meet on one of your trips since you are so close.

We take my mother-in-law to The Maine Diner every time we go to visit her. She lives in Kittery, almost across from the Outpost. Glad you got the offender removed. I'm sure your "orb" will look just fine once healed!

I feel your pain when it comes to the moles. I am also "pre-deadly." I had one removed from my left "cheek" just below the waistband, which I can assure you has never seen the sun. It was rated severe, versus the other two I've had removed, which were only moderate. I'm due for my end of summer check-up - thanks for the reminder!

It sounds like you had a great vacation. Was there a Maggie Monday moment during your visit?

Love the clogs. Envy the lobster.
At least you get out of walking the dog!

I want to go to the Maine Diner. Really, I just want to go to Maine in general.

I LOVE V-necks! They flatter me and my chest, so if you like wearing them - rock on. I'm mole covered as well, though I didn't know about the whole "mole on the head" thingy. That's slightly worrying to be pre-deadly.

I also love Maine. We're Canadian, but after the cottage that is further north (Gorgian Bay - Canadian Shield, beyond beautiful) our second most favourite place is Maine. Last year we stayed in Cape Elizabeth, just the two of us for 4 nights and it was perfect. We hope to go back later this fall.

Have you unpacked your camera yet? ;-)

PS - my veri word is tarbonc which at first I thought was tabernac which is my favourite french swear word............
