Vegas, Baby!

I'm exhausted. I've been trying to nap but everything keeps conspiring against me. The dude is off watching the golf (live), and so when Stella went berserk over some rabbits this morning, I had to get up. Now she is napping and I can't get back to sleep.

It didn't help that I had to get up early yesterday because I had signed up to make a cake for my old ladies at library stitching. We were celebrating the fourth. They're so cute, they all wore theme clothes, which you can do when you're wicked old. They loved the cake, which was from the Cake Mix Doctor, as usual. They all took dainty wafer-thin slices--two or three each. They had eaten half the cake, and I didn't want to take home half a cake so I encouraged them to take more, thinking I could bring the dude a slice. But they took it all. Which you can do when you're wicked old...or so my grandmother thinks.

My fatigue wasn't caused by Vegas. I went to bed at a reasonable time every night and slept like I had been anesthetized. I had a nest made of pillows. This is the first vacation in a long time that I didn't miss my Tempurpedic. Maybe it's jet lag.

We had a great time! My dad loved the box I made--and thank you for your compliments on it! I had a big win ($2500) which always makes every trip a little more enjoyable. I also had the opportunity to visit with Kathryn, who is just as I pictured her. She showed me many of her recent finishes, which are lovelier in real life. I got to see their new house lot which has an amazing view of the strip. Best of all, she and her husband, James, took me to In-N-Out which made me extraordinarily happy. Thanks, Kathryn. It's always so wonderful to meet stitching bloggers.

I did start both the dude's birthday present (the Bermuda map) and the dude's anniversary present (silk gauze project) but have no photos yet.

Our plans for this weekend include heading to my sister's for a barbecue tomorrow and on Monday we'll head to the Kutztown Festival. Maybe I'll have some photos of the quilts for you again this year. But not til Tuesday.

Oh that sleep you had sounds good, but mine's usually like the one you mention being interrupted by Stella. Lately, our neighbors have begun putting their dog out at about 5:30 am and it barks ... and barks ... and barks. And of course my bedroom window faces that direction. Grrr.
