Swing of Things

So hi! Remember me? It's been like a million years since I updated you on my thing-a-day. Partly, it's a photography problem and partly it's a problem getting computer time. But here I am. It's nice to be back.

Lately, my thing has been a scrapbook for Stella. I've been doing one page a day, so here is the last 10 days worth of work. I still have another 10 days on this, but I'm tired of black-and-white-and-red-all-over jokes.

When I scrap, I could be a bit of a perfectionist--and each album would take a million years-- so what I try to do is limit my color palette, papers, and embellishments. So far, so good. In no particular order:

I'll be updating over at the Olympic Stitching blog today too. So check out what's happening with the mermaid.

I also put in some quality time in the craft room, and I am happy to report that the craft table is cleared! It's nice to walk in and not be assaulted. Well, there's still an assault of stuff, it's just slightly more organized now. I've decided to get rid of the 10 years of Piecework I have in there. I am probably going to sell it on ebay in one year lots; if you are interested in them, we can work out a "buy-it-now" deal before I put them up. No rush. The dude will have the computer all weekend for an exam, and you know how long it takes me to fulfill my good intentions.

Mermaid progress = good.
Lindsey Vonn = frickin' awesome!
As far as the scrapbooking thing goes, I have a similar problem. My first page took 3 hours. I'm dead serious. Talk about overthinking things. Then I did an entire (small) scrapbook as a last-minute Christmas gift a couple of years ago in about a week. The KISS method can really work wonders for actually getting traction with a scrapbook. Of course, your version of KISS puts mine completely to shame, but I'd like to think that you are working with something larger than 7" square pages.

I like the idea of restricting a scrapbook to a specific color palette. On average, I think it takes me about an hour to complete a page without any pre-planning, so that's a helpful idea!

Great scrapbook pics! I love the black and red - I try to keep my wardrobe the same thing - predominately black with red and other accent colors.

Your mermaid stitch is coming along quite well!

A perfect palette and great work -- congratulations. Wanna get all my photos organized for me? No, I didn't think so.

Now I see why I don't scrapbook--with my obsessive tendencies, I'd never get a page done. Yours look great! And the mermaid's coming along nicely despite the frogging.

What are you doing next Saturday? Want to come over and finish my Walt Disney Vacation scrap book? It's only been 2 years since I started it. I'll work on one of your WIP's while you do my album.....

Your pages are wonderful. You've done Stella proud.

I can't do scrapbooking and remain a semi-sane person. Taking up that habit would be the cause of another stash, which would send me even deeper into the hoarding shame spiral.

By the way, I'm exercising extreme self-control by sparing you my numerous black-and-white-and-red-all-over jokes.

I think the restricyed colour palette looks really effective!

I have to say, my art teacher at school had a particular loathing of what she called the "everything but the kitchen sink" style and eventually it sank into my head, and I much prefer simplicity!

The perfectionism is exactly why I don't scrapbook. It would take me forever and stress me out, which I think sort of defeats the purpose.

I would be interested in the Piecework mags, depending on what your asking price is...
