Nuts!

"There's that woman with the dog again."
"What woman?"
"The one who keeps picking things off the sidewalk."
"What is she picking up?"
"I can't tell, but there's nothing out there but acorns and squirrel droppings..."
"Wait, did that dog just eat something?"

CASE'd from betz white. No idea what I'm going to do with them. I guess I thought these caps were too good for compost.

See the tiny ones? They're a double. I guess the cap on the right was bigger than the cap on the left. But we know about asymmetry in nature, right girls?

Perhaps this little project makes me feel like I didn't waste money on the felting class I took. Even though you don't need a class to make these. One day I will get to those delightful felt projects...one day.

cracks me up
"asymmetry in nature"

last week I was standing under a bur oak,
in the parking lot where i work,
i was meandering through the oak droppings in like fashion....
i squirreled away some good ones!

Great idea! We have about a million acorns in our yard (so much so that our cars have dents that look like hail damage but is really from the acorns). This would be fun for the kids to try, too.

They are very cute. Not sure what I'd do with them...but very cute.

Absolutely adorable! The things you can do with felt. I took a class as well, but so far have only crafted balls for Pelle and Pantoef to play with.

Thank you. Now I know why my friend said last year - you have a lot of acorn caps - I'll take them. For a whole year she hasn't told me why she wanted them. Brilliant idea.

OMG, they are adorable! I'd put a whole pile of them in a big glass bowl.

Because the acorn caps fall around our easter, I collect the caps and hotglue gun the itty bitty solid easter eggs (in foil) to them. - see if you can keep a selection of caps until easter...they also look very festive!

I love these little felted acorns. I saw one on Heartstring Primitives blog, I think, and I've been thinking about it ever since. I want some!! They are too cute!
