The Envelope Please

Even though "Stella Sunday" has beautiful consonance, I couldn't wait to share her results. Boy were you guys wrong!

And a little

As for guesses lab and terrier--pit/Staff and Jack Russell (Stewie's influence?)--were the most popular. Saluki, Akita, greyhound, Great Dane, poodle, and Chi were all outliers.

I've always thought Shar Pei because of her forehead but also these little ridges of fur on her neck and the way her neck is so ill-defined. Well, I vacillated with Chow Chow too, especially when she was being stubborn! The other day, I saw her next to a Shiba Inu and became convinced she was a Shiba x Lab (that link leads to a dog that could be Stella's twin). Still, my best friend looks more like me than my sister does. Really, people think we're sisters all the time...so the same DNA doesn't always show the same.

I will say that there are certain of Stella's characteristics that don't show up in photographs. You can't pet her coat against the grain and see how fluffy it is. She's definitely not flat coated like a lab. She's also not black but sort of black and brown. And I guess the internets threw you a loop on the tongue. (Still wish I could get a good shot of it. If you saw it, you'd know why I wanted to call her Ladybug.)

Now that we "know" it will be easier at the dog park. She's still #1 in our hearts...

Well blow me down! Isn't nature an amazing thing? No matter what, she is still your Stella; but how neat to know her bloodline.

The Dutch term for a mutt is a 'vuilnesbakje' - a little trash can. LOL. Someone else called Rigby a Heinz 59, which certainly sounded friendlier. ;)

wow - I'm usally good at this sort of thing :-) But some of my best friends are border collies and she is in good company. And of course I have deep feelings for those Chinese breeds... LOL!

Stella has a very interesting heritage. I'm dog breed challenged so I didn't guess. She's a beautiful dog, no matter what.

That is an interesting mix, but regardless she is your Stella and she is gorgeous. Love the quilts that you got from your Mums, they are gorgeous, and that bag is so cute.

Totally not what I guessed. Does she try to herd you? I had a border collie try to herd me this morning on the way to work.

We're getting Wesley typed soonish. I think he's a terrier/hound mix but will probably turn out to be chihuahua and ... I don't know, doberman, if that's even possible.
