Thanks to you all for the love for the review. It's what I'm trained to do, you know. The funny, I don't know where that comes from, except I was once voted class clown. True story.
So I am a week late, and either $7 or $15 short, depending on how you want to look at it. I didn't want to let the first LNS stitching night pass unremarked. Molly, Rachel, and Dianne have all already reported on the doings. (Dianne may not have been able to stitch in public, but I was only able to eat in public because I had a pregnant woman partner in crime. Really, I wonder how many people went hungry because two slices seems like enough to eat in front of other people.) It was fun, and a blog reader recognized me even though I use my real name in real life. Crazy, I know. Anyway, that night I did some good work on Mermaids Singing, and in some kind of fit of consistency, I've kept at it.
I know some of you are jealous because you don't have your own LNS at which to have a stitching night. Do remember to check out the public libraries near you--they may have stitching groups. Your alumni association may too. I'm sure you can think of other places where likeminded stitchers may gather. Don't get all self-piteous, get out there a make a group!

Mermaids Singing looks great - maybe you'll have another FO soon. I think I missed your review - I'll have to go and have a peek as I'm picking up my copy next week.
Love this fabric with it - nice stitching! And don't get me started on healthcare.....LOL
I would love to have a stitching group, but my neighborhood seems hopelessly deficient of women who do anything but watch their housecleaners clean their house and work out at the gym. Nasty women.
I love your Mermaid's Singing. You picked a great fabric for it.
Well, Deb, it sounds like you should move. My point was you might have to look around a little to find what you are looking for.
Wish I could join you all on a Friday night, but I have trouble staying awake to get home on Fridays! I've done the early Saturday morning in years past (well past, lol) for the big discount, and spent quite a few SuperBowl Sundays at said LNS, but Friday night is just NOT happening!!
Only reason I'm up at this ungodly hour on a Friday is two days of sleep courtesy of the cold from hell- now I am totally off my sleep cycle.
All of which comes under the category of TMI!
Anyway, the mermaids look terrific!
I am happy to be your eating plenty partner in crime -- we should have another 4 good months if they keep the stitching night going. I'm glad you chose to stick with the purple letters rather than frog -- they look cute!
I still don't have a copy of the new Xmas mag -- will come back to your review when I can read along.
I had two pieces of pizza - but then I had countless cookies! I made the suggestion that next time we skip the pizza and just have desserts!
Your mermaid piece is looking great!
Oh My Gosh!!! Mapquest says I'm only 28 miles from you right now!!! Don't worry, I'm not going to stalk you. I've been reading your blog for quite some time now and I so much enjoy it. I live in Kentucky but we are in New Jersey right now for business. My husband and I both work in the nuclear power industry.
Thank you so much for blogging. I hope to start my own blog after this job is over.
Have a SUPER weekend!!!
What a great idea! A stitching night! I'll make it a day, but I never thought of stitching WITH other stitchers. The thought of frogging repeatedly while conversing probably has kept me from even thinking it's a good idea, but I really do love friends, stitching, and did you say something about PIZZA and COOKIES??? Yep, what a great idea!
We used to gather; myself and another woman from work started a group. It just petered out this year, what with my stressful life - woe is me - ha ha. And 2 of us are quilting and the 3rd is an air hostess, and is never around. The 4th has moved her friendship along to another. (Now there's a weird story). But in a way it is a relief, no-one except for me would badger the people to get together. No-one else ever phoned me - so in a way I am happier. And I have a new bunch of quilting friends.
Word verifcation - skunk. hmm...
P.S. I love the mermaid!
Speaking of finding a stitching night to attend. I recently went to a guild meeting and discovered that in addition to the stitching afternoons they host at the libraries (during the day, not very full time worker friendly), they host an evening stitching session in a community room - ironically located in a grocery store.
At least the snack food is handy.
Congrats on finishing the mermaids! Another one in my stash I can't find time for, lol. I found a weekly stitching group about 2 yrs ago, couldn't do without my buddies now.
Btw - there are also a lot of knitting and stitching groups that meet at Barnes & Noble. Love your mermaids, that fabric is just yummy!
