Not Alone

As appealing as running off to the Netherlands sounds (Hi, Annemarie! Hi, Barbara!), I'm pretty sure it will just be the same stress, different day.

A lot of people talk about making the holidays simpler by making their gifts. Ha! But I'm happy to see that I am not alone. I'm glad there's a number of us who are a little bit crazy when it comes to estimating our time, and still wanting to give it.

I've decided to finish the stockings for next year. Look how far ahead I am on the 2009 Christmas gifts! Yay, me!

That's actually a good way to think about the stockings. I soooo wanted to get my son's done for this year but I completely miscalculated my time.

I hope your holiday doesn't get much more stressful, lol!

Yay for being ahead on next year's gifts! ;) And yay for other great people who also totally underestimate how long these gifts of the heart take (SO glad to know I'm not the only one!). But you're still welcome in gray, rainy, cold Gouda anytime! :D

Even the stress of crafting to a deadline is less than the stress of fighting through packed shops, I've really enjoyed making more of my own gifts this year, and buying everything else online. It's been a revelation - hope next year is as good for you!

Now you are ahead for next year - don;t we all get just a little crazy trying to finish up stuff - I have a thing i am working on that has to be finished to carry on the plane next Friday at 6 am. that is a deadline that really is looming!!!

The stocking I intended to stitch for my grandson hasn't even been started ... but what the heck, he's only 15 months old and wouldn't know what to do with it anyway. I'll start work on it during the Christmas vacation [I work on a school calendar and will have ten days off] and finish it in time for Christmas 2009 when there will actually be a chance he will understand what it is all about. As to other gifts, I have made a [crochet] needle book for my Mom and the LHN Seasons of ... series of four pillows are all stitched and just need to be hemmed and affixed to the pre-fab pillows. That was all I had really intended to make ... so two out of three isn't all that bad.

Nope not alone at all. I can't believe how little time there is until Christmas, where did the time go, and where are all the items I'd planned to have done. I still have decorations to do, cards to do, shopping to do. Ugh!! Somethings got to give, and it will be the various hand made items that just didn't get far enough along to finish. Like you, I'm going to look at them being a head start on next year. :)
