Oh no. She's posting pictures of In-N-Out burgers and it's nearly suppertime and California is so far away! No fair!
We were in KC last December for a meeting. Can't say much memorable about it, but I do endorse Arthur Bryant's ribs and sauce over all others (especially Jack Stack which seems so popular and somehow so bourgeois). Now Arthur Bryant's the opposite of fancy and not in the best part of town, but with a large group we tasted almost everything on the menu and it was all FABULOUS. Even the Texans in the group had to admit that that was a pretty good BBQ.
My out-laws claim everyone should see the Treasures of the Steamboat Arabia. They drag everyone to see it. Based on their recommendation, I would see something else. There is a psychiatric museum up in St. Joe. I'm twisted enough to enjoy that sort of thing. Kathyrn's assessment of the BBQ situation is right on the money.
OMG! You're going to be in my stomping grounds?!
I believe Gates is the best known in KC for BBQ. Jack Stack has a wine list...a very big no-no for real BBQ fans according to my husband! ; ) Arthur Bryants is "ok" if you like a thin-vinegar type sauce.
I vote for a "no" on the Arabia...b o r i n g!!! If you'd like to email me and let me know where you'll be staying, I'll let you know what is around the area to do or what you might enjoy!
