If You Don't Buy it, They'll Stop Making It

I've been reading how everyone is cutting back on acquiring new stash until they complete their 10/25/50 project challenge. This is crazy! Do you want your favorite stores to go out of business? Well let me tell you how lucky you are that I am still buying things!

I fell in love with Liberty Street's new design, In the Tall Flowers Sampler. I had a hard time finding the fabric that it calls for, so I contacted the maker. I noticed also that she did the fabric called for in Mermaids Singing. It is not the bright yellow that shows up in the picture on the Workbasket chart. (Has no one heard of color correction out there?) It's actually a lovely green. So I had to get some of that. And then while I was ordering, I figured I should also get the fabric for Rose Bunnie [sic] by Liberty Street. La Fern is a beautiful color, perfect for the bunny.

My mom also asked me to do a Mirabilia mermaid for her for her 65th birthday (2009). I figured I'd better get started. I chose Emerald Mermaid. I can't believe I'm doing one of these. I can't beleive my mother was so enamored of them.

Edited: When I added the picture, I realized I forgot about the celtic pumpkin by Sunflower Seed. I did need to replace those two pumpkin patterns that I stitched.

Couldn't agree with you more! I fear that shops will close too - one right by me is closing now too - what a shame! Like you, I keep spending - LOL!

What a haul you got there, Anna. I think Emerald Mermaid is one of my favorite mermaids that Nora designed. She will be breathtaking when finished.

I may be in the challenge but I do have my CATS exemption. LOL It is also a little easier on me these days because I don't have the $$ to buy. Things need to get done on the house first and don't even get me started with Christmas. :)

Yes, that is the shop that is closing.

I am keeping up my end of things here in Virginia by supporting my LNS--and a good number of online shops as well. You and Carol will have to be in charge of the Mid-Atlantic and New England segments. LOL. I saw that Celtic Pumpkin design stitched and custom framed with orange and green mats, and it was simply amazing--made me want to stitch it also.

I know, it's so sad. But I have more than 600 charts and kits in my stash, so 50 projects is just a drop in the bucket for me. I've been supporting the industry quite well for a while now, I think they can handle a break from me! : )

Hear, Hear! As an industry, we depend on all the stashaholics who are addicted to all the designs. Why come out with new things otherwise?

No way can I ever commit to not buying stash. If the opportunity presents itself, I will spend my last dime on stash. I am trying to knock some of my WIP off my list but just can't say I won't buy any stash until this many or that many projects are finished.
