Tool Time: Scissor Location System

I'm up past my bedtime to bring you today's craft. It was supposed to be something entirely different but there is no way I would have had time on this crazy day!

I may have stretched the definition of a needlework tool, but I would argue that the best way for me to find my scissors--which have a tendency to locate themselves somewhere between the end table, the arm of the couch, my lap, and between the couch cushion--is to have something on them that nearly doubles their size.

Tutorials:
SoEasyQuilts has a video tutorial
Abbie has a tutorial
Anne over on Focus on Finishing does too.

There are lots of ideas out there for these if you have trouble picking beads and colors!

Scissors and the Lying Liar Who Lied to You

Thank you all so much for your compliments on my new bag. I love it, and I am carrying it everywhere!

The dude asked me what I was blogging about today. "Scissors," I said. He responded: "They cut...or you can look through them and pretend that they are binoculars..."

LOL. Not what I was planning to say. But aren't you glad he said it?

What I had planned to say was that I lied. I don't have 23 pairs of scissors. The thing is I had counted them twice and by the time I got to the computer both times, I had forgotten the number. I suppose I could have written it down, but I just needed to say a number so I chose 23. It turns out I have 16. I suppose I could have just taken a picture in the first place. But sometimes I'm a bear of very little brain.

I don't want to be known as "Stitch Bitch, that liar." So here are seven eight more pairs that I use for paper crafting, sewing, and general crafting.

Twenty three and now we can all breath a sigh of relief. Twenty four, oy vey iz mir.

Wacky Races

Today I was back at the library. One of the wackier women (I like her!) has been "voicing" the bear puppets another woman is knitting for a librarian's parents to take to an orphanage in Ecuador. Did you get all that? Anyway, the bears have been welcoming new knitters, commenting on our projects, and encouraging the bear-knitter to knit clothes for the puppets more quickly. It's a very silly bunch, and I like it.

We also talked about gardening which is good since the dude and I will be digging up half our front yard starting tomorrow. We've wanted to put in a path to the sidewalk for a while, and we're finally getting around to it.  We also talked about the new book about Chanticleer (reviewed today in the Ink) and the many (many, many) gardens you can visit in our area: Longwood, Chanticleer, Bartram's, Barnes Arboretum, Awbury, Bowman's Hill, Haverford College, Swarthmore College, Morris Arboretum, Temple Ambler, Medford Leas, Winterthur and on and on. There's some pretty serious gardeners among our stitchers, and it's nice to be able to pick their brains

When I got home, these scissors had arrived from Anita's Little Stitches. So cute! And trust me, I had a hard time choosing from the many cuties on the website.

A Bored Blogger is a Boring Blogger

Barbara pled. How on earth can I ignore her?
Like my bandage? I know it looks like I've decorated my hand with crepe paper, but it's a self-adhesive bandage. We got it at Pet Smart--I need the 1" size, which they don't sell in human stores. You will be unsurprised to learn that bandages you buy at Pet Smart don't come in "fleshtone." While we--I have to be driven everywhere like a diva, so the dude came--were at the mall, I popped into AC Moore to see if I could find a book or magazine to alleviate my boredom. Things are really bad, people. I haven't stitched since Sunday* and nothing, nothing, grabbed my interest in the craft store. What can I do? I'd read, but I'm so easily distracted lately, I'm not sure how far I'm going to get. I have been reviewing the Book Lust books to see what I can find, because this is going to be a long two months if I don't have anything to occupy my hands. In fact, I should just warn you now: watch for the second coming of satan. These hands have never been so idle.

The only news on the crafting front is the cleaning woman found two pairs of embroidery scissors under my bed? nighttable?. One pair has been lost for ages. She's a keeper!

*A full day of work leaves me in too much pain to stitch.
