It was fun. Except when I dropped one of the pink beads and the dude and I were down on all fours looking for it and Stella decided she could be most helpful by licking our faces since clearly we needed to play.
The big bead is a rhodochrosite. I scrounged around for things that would match. (I needed to buy the wire; I've got plenty of beads.) If I did it again, I'd go darker with the bugle and seed beads. But I still think it looks pretty nifty.
I think I might give it to my hairdresser who had a run-in with a wolf spider that she told me about at my last visit. This seems like a good souvenir.

I saw your Twitter posts last night about this and was excited to see what it looked like! It's great, and it should make your hairdresser smile I'm sure! I know I'd much rather have a run in with a spider of this sort... hehe
ReplyDeleteEven tho it's a fake, bejeweled spider, I still think it's creepy. I've had run-ins with wolf spiders and tarantulas before. Why do they have to be so scary?!
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteI have a similar one from several years ago, and it came with legend of tinsel, a different story that that of your hairdresser!

Wow! That's stunning! Doesn't some foreign country put a spider ormnament on their Xmas tree for good luck or something?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous spider! Sometime I'll have to try it too...
ReplyDeleteThose are a bunch of ugly spiders, but yours is adorable. I love it.

Yes. I can totally see this in Christmas colors hiding on the tree.
ReplyDeleteLove your month of being crafty!
Oh, I need one of those! I wear a pin to school every day, so I have quite an assortment of interesting objects. I'll have to make one of those (uh huh, sure). My students would love it.
ReplyDeletePretty nifty. I am enjoying your month of crafting. Can't wait to see what is next.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is just wonderful!!!!! I just love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your spider. I would go crazy trying to get the beads arranged on the legs correctly. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that spider! Now I have to make one. I made Christmas spiders with the kids several years ago, but they didn't turn out that beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI made a spider similar to this (not so fancy beads on mine) in the late 70s. It has been on our Christmas tree every since. My mom really liked it. I got married in the mid 90s and my husband "tolerates" it on our tree...but it is TRADITION!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty cool!
