I've been out finding the crazy in the world. Not the craft store this time. At B&N I was flipping through the British magazine Cross Stitch Card Shop. I came across this pattern.
You may not be able to make it out because you won't be able to wrap your head around it. It's a merpoodle. What I like best is it says "Especially for you." Who is the person that you think of when you see a merpoodle? "You know what? She is such a merpoodle person!" The mind boggles. Truly. And we wonder why cross stitch has such a bad rep.
So then I was in the Rite Aid, and I found this:

It's especially for me, on those days when I feel like visiting the sea. Maybe you never noticed I change my blog title to Raised by Merpoodles on those days? OK, I'm out. I'll have to get my brother working on it, since his tall tales were the original inspiration for my blog title.
What the hell is a merpoodle? I swear, I don't know where they come up with this stuff. And you're right, we'll buy anything. And then what do we do with the stuff after we buy it - just about nothing.
OMG...DH told me they were making snuggies for pets and I didn't believe him.
Did you happen to see any Snuggies for cats? I don't have a dog...
What? You don't like the Merpoodle design? What's wrong with it? I thought it was really tastefully done.
You know, I think maybe the designer was influenced by the Dutch language. 'Seal' in Dutch is 'zeehond', which literally means 'sea dog'. So there.
Next maybe they'll have Snuggies for your Chia pet just in time for holiday shopping! :P
My mom might actually like a merpoodle. I probably should not admit to that....
Despite having lived 3 winters-only in Newport and 1 winter-only in Ithaca (that is, no summers there), my hubby doesn't get why anyone would even conceive of a snugglie let alone buy one.
The Merpoodle does stretch the imagination.

Okay, I have to admit the merpoodle is a bit beyond my comprehension. But, I am now, almost ashamed to admit that I put little coats on my tiny doggies. They're already pretty girlie looking but boy, when I get their coats on they're over the top girlie. I'm sick. I know it. I never had a daughter so I guess I feel a need to play dress up. My boys CAN'T STAND when I put things on them. I will not however, be buying them a snuggie! I think the leopard print things I put on them are tacky enough, thank you!!! ;-)

The merpoodle design was designed at MY request. It was inspired by a vintage wall paper I uncovered while remodeling the bathroom in my historic home.
If this is your idea of having seen it all, you need to get out more.
Dear Merpoodle Lady, This isn't my idea of "having seen it all." Sweetheart, you've got to go a lot farther to get even near some of the "Things I Have Seen." No, I didn't mention that even once in the post. I'm pleased you convinced someone to design it based on your merpoodle wallpaper. But I don't see why the rest of us needed it. We were perfectly happy without it.
