I'm on a Roll!

Willow Trees Sampler, City Stitcher (c 1989)
Called for DMC flosses, random fabric
Yeah, I'm still talking about that drive back from Maine last week. Once I finished Blue Snowman, and then ran out of Deep Sea for the Dog Lessons, I moved on to Willow Trees Sampler. I needed another week or so but--voila--more completed stitching happiness! I am beboppin' and scattin' all over this cross stitch thing! Woot!

Sorry for the horrible photos, but we're having a stormy day to warm up for the hurricane bearing down on us. You know, so the ground will be good and juicy and the trees will have the tendency to fall over. Excitement!

The one change I made was not stitching the initials in the prescribed Algerian eyelet stitch. I took a before picture under the Ott light but it didn't come out well enough to see. You'll have to trust me, it looked like poop. Instead I went with a Smyrna stitch--like an Algerian eyelet without diving down the middle. I like it much better.

Ok now I'm confused.

*NOTE TO SELF*
Look up the difference between an Algerian eye and a Smyrna stitch.

It's so adorable - love it! Email me if you are interested in selling your used chart...this pattern has been on my list for awhile, I've always liked it.

Love this one, just got the chart for it earlier this year. Seeing your finish is pretty inspiring :)
Beeboppin' and scattin' you are!

Gorgeous finish. I really like your change to Smyrna. The letters look gorgeous with it. So does the rest. Love it.
Hope you and your family will come safe through the hurricane.

Wow, another finish! It's just beautiful. (I actually have this pattern - so why haven't I stitched it? You may have inspired a new start.)

Fabulous finishes over the past few days (as always, I'm behind)! Go, girl, go. I'm with you on the Smyrnas versus Algerian eyelets. Why work so hard when less looks better?

Good luck with your new friend Irene. Hope she's not as messy as predicted.

Wow, Anna- this one is new to me and gorgeous!! I love the border at the bottom and the tree is fabulous! I will have to see about getting this one.

I hope the ground is not too juicy to overflow a good pair or rainboots - gotta get you some! All kidding aside, take care and hope you survive Irene with not a damaged thing to your name. You know in blogland, us not on the east coast are thinking of y'all on the water!! I am glad Michigan only gets rain from the hurricanes (sometimes).

I'm with you, I swap out Algerian Eyelets for Smyrna all the time. On the list of "Things I hate to Stitch," algerian eyes are right behind repetitive borders.

Willow Trees Sampler is looking lovely.

Love your "Willow Tree" sampler. Haven't seen this design. Your stitching is beautiful!

We're in the midst of the stormy weather too. Hurricane Irene is bearing down on us, and so far, we are all snug as bugs inside, and hope that it passes by soon without too much damage to our state.

Another great finish! I'm not a fan of Algerian eyes either so I think the Smyrna crosses look much better.
