I'm starting my Craft Month by introducing you to Tool Tuesday. (Each day will have a theme, some alliterative.) On Tuesdays I'll be finishing stitching into a tool that can be used for needlework. My first project is floss ring tag.
I have no idea where this whale came from. It was presented to me as my work when my mother was cleaning out her house. I have no recollection of stitching all the tiny pieces she foist upon me, but I will have to take her word for it. I used the wave fabric for the backing. I'm quite pleased with myself.
My first thought of this finishing technique came during my search for last year's March crafts--finishing techniques for needlework. I found this link on Pinterest. {Goes to the actual project, not Pinterest.} In searching for some directions, I found Staci's at Snippets and Stash and Vonna's at Twisted Stitcher's tutorial blog. Vonna tells you how she made the tag shape. I used a tag punch. (I traced it; I couldn't have punched mat board with that!)
And, as I promised yesterday, the progress I made on Tis the Season in February (Blackbird, called for materials, from the book Joyeux Noel). This is how it looked last time.
What are you doing to #cre8time this month?
Cute tag. It seems to have been raining whales in Norfolk, they keep washing up on the beach.
ReplyDeleteDoes the hashtag mean how will I create time? I was thinking of a standard Tardis-like machine zipping backwards and forward across the time zones.
Or I might just ignore the housework and create crafting time that way as per usual!
I like your whale tag and I think the wave fabric is fantastic. Could you provide more info on the wave fabric? I will be creating many little x's (or should that be xs) during the month of March.
ReplyDeleteYour tag looks great Nikki. Nice progress on Tis the Season.
