We also tried out a new idea I found on the internet--to let people who were leaving "empty handed" from the silent auction "lend a hand" to the library. We had 20 or so hand cut outs that were all labeled with an item and a price, for example "children's books $20," "audiobooks, $75" "educational puzzles, $20" "library cart, $250." We raised an additional $255 for the asking! A small amount to be sure, but I think with more advertising (we didn't do a write up of this opportunity in the gala program and some people left before we had the table manned) we could do much better!
I did pick up a needle for a little while today, and I'll be happy to snap a photo of my progress when the sun comes back out.
Wonderful way to allow more people to participate!
ReplyDeleteWell done on your fundraiser

Congratulations on another successful library fundraiser! I really like your "hand" cut out idea to include more "players". Enjoy the rest of your day!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the success! It's lovely when so much hard work pays off. And what a great idea with the 'lend a hand', as well.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, you did a great job! I am sure that next time you will find other creative tips to raise more money.
ReplyDeleteGlad the fundraiser went well. We had our school craft fayre at the weekend. Four hours of writing people's names on the back of raffle tickets and folding them up!
