A while back I made reference to the fact I was planning a baby shower, and I thought you'd like to see the invitations I made. It's twins, and yes, they're the same ones I'm knitting the dresses for.
I started from Holley's Hobbies peapod baby and then played around with how I would fit two on the card. I punched an oval and then repunched each side of the original oval to make the "sides" of the pea. Two green circles (1/4" I think) and one "fleshtone" (remember when crayons actually were called "fleshtone" as though everyone on earth was sort of a weird peachy color?) I stamped "Celebrate" (we didn't have "it's a shower") and then embossed the dots on the pink cardstock. I have had the argyle hanging around waiting for the right project and the green ribbon is from Stampin' Up. I think it's gumball green. Inside the invitations says "they're two peas in a pod!"
So far all but one person has RSVP'd and everyone says yes! I think it's the card. Who could say no to it?
And since I'm planning the shower, no games. No melted chocolate bars in diapers. No guess whose baby picture that is. No measuring the mother's stomach with yarn. There will be crafts, however. Because of course.
Thank God for no games. I hate those things. Although I did like the guess-the-width-of-the-pregnant-woman one. I was pregnant at the time, so all I had to do was measure myself and subtract a few inches because she was thinner than I was. I won!
ReplyDeleteCute card Nikki.

You're planning that shower like A BOSS!
ReplyDeleteCute card, too.
Adorable! Sounds like a great shower! Hope it's a great success!
ReplyDeleteIf all cards were that wonderful, there'd never be an RSVP problem. Love. them.
ReplyDeleteYour card is sweet. I totally agree about the games. That is a major reason why I dislike showers.
ReplyDeleteThe card is amazing and adorable (two adjectives for two babies). And, yes, hard to resist. I totally agree with you about the games. Crafts over games any day of the week.
ReplyDeleteReally a truly wonderful and unique card. A gift in and of itself.
ReplyDeleteI, too, hate the pointless 'games'.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for taking a stand against them.
I love the card.
May we see a picture of the baby jerseys you are creating?
You are planning a party to go to. I HATE with a passion, guess the baby food, poop in the diaper, drink from a bottle. That is why I typically send a gift, skip the party. But one with crafts....now I'd attend that!
ReplyDeleteBeing the mother of twins myself, I ADORE THAT CARD!
Beautiful card! As a mom, I would appreciate one, or in this case, two, for the baby books.
ReplyDeleteI LOATHE games at baby showers, but most of them I can put up with. The one I hate more than any other is the melted candy in the diaper one. it's stupid, and wasteful. Guess which one they had at mine? Ugh. Crafts are a MUCH better idea. Are you doing the onesie / bib decorating?
Also, in case you don't already know, check out the Target Dollar Spot when you go in. They usually packages of seasonal ribbons for $1 that would work for your card making.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling invitation you've made! Sounds like you're planning my kind of shower--have fun!
ReplyDeleteI've only ever been to one baby shower, we don't have them here. We did play the chocolate in the nappy and also "guess the flavour of the baby food jar". That one is guaranteed to make sure you only feed your baby "real food" not jars!!
ReplyDeleteI love your card, I love twins but had my babies the hard way - one at a time. Despite being as big as the lady who WAS having twins last time I was in hospital. She got two x 4lbs and I got a 10lber!
Sweet card!! And good for you for not having games at the shower. It's much more fun without.
ReplyDeleteI hate to contradict Jo, but having twins is not the easy way, lol!
Cute card. Yeah, twins!
ReplyDeleteLove the card, it´s perfect
