Late last year I pulled a bunch of smalls patterns. I decided to start with a seasonally-appropriate piece, Heart in Hand Winter Fobs. The pattern called for 36-count fabric, which I didn't have. I had this one piece of 32-count fabric, and for some reason I thought, "Oh! I know, I'll just stitch it over one." Now, it's not like I don't understand math or don't have a fabric calculator at my disposal so I could see that that would be stupid small. Seriously. See Mr. Jefferson over there? He is completely covering the design.
It's a snowy little scene which seems quaint, when you know, your soul hasn't been crusted over with week-old snow. I'm not sure what I am going to do with this piece, but it doesn't seem like it's going to make a particularly good scissor fob. (For my friends more familiar with HRH, I've included the 20p.)
I went ahead and stitched it again over two and it is a much less ridiculous size. I think I will try to find some blue scissors or snowflake scissors (I might be pushing it there.)
Thank you all for your support against winter. I know we will get through this, but it does seem like the change of seasons is a long way off. Still,
No winter lasts forever
No spring skips its turn.
I am also glad to hear so many of you know how to behave in museums. However, the badly behaved seem to have been on an international crime spree on Sunday. We'll have to stage a takeover to keep the touchers out, or something.
EDITED: Oh, right. This is part of Stitching Lotus's Smalls SAL. You can click the image in the sidebar for more information.
Would it fit in one of those watch fob pendants that I have been seeing around 'net? Or one of those pendant frames that is used by Milady's Needle?

Yeah, I have some tiny frames that you can use as a pendant or pin with a bow at the top I got through one of the magazines years ago. Pretty tininess! I love tiny!
ReplyDeleteThey both look great but that first one is super teeny. I like the scissor fob idea.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful, and I applaud you for finishing the small one - it must have taken a lot of strength stitching over 1 on this fabric... Hang in there. Spring will come! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I also like the small version. May looks good on button or brooch))
ReplyDeleteA teeny weeny and a small. The first one would make an adorable button cover LOL What stamina (not to mention fantastic eyesight) to work on 32 ct and over 1 stitch. This will make a lovely fob!
ReplyDeleteVery Small!
ReplyDeleteWow that is ridiculously small!!!! But cute!
ReplyDeleteI have never a stitched piece so tiny Nikki. Amazing. The bigger one will make a great fob.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Oh, I think it's adorable--I love tiny!! The tinier the better :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute =D I want one too
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching. I saw somewhere a lady had made a needle minder out of a small stitch such as yours. I'm sure you could google a tutorial.
ReplyDeleteYour small is very cute Anna. Think I'd turn the uber small into a covered button or magnet.
ReplyDeleteWere waiting for the next round of snow to start here again, their saying 4-10 inches.

Very cute - and nice first small finish of the year!
ReplyDeleteI have a fondness for over 1 on 32 ct finishes. They are so cute, and I usually can't stop staring at them.
ReplyDeleteWOW, very nice!!
ReplyDeleteThat is tiny...well done!
ReplyDeleteI love tiny! Oh my gosh! So tiny and cute! Both of them!
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely tiny! Perhaps you could use it to cover a button then mount it on the centre of a wooden snowflake ornament
ReplyDeleteVery nice, it's so small.
ReplyDeleteGreetings :)
Tiny is precious! It would be adorable in one of those leaded glass scissor fobs, in which they usually use photocopies. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, that's tiny!!
ReplyDeleteNow that is tiny! Are you blind yet???
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely. I have a tiny bookmark frame to fill with something very small too. Hard on the eyesight.
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I call a small!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is tiny but it's very cute!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on sticking with and finishing the teeny tiny and other smll as well.
ReplyDeletewow, that is SO tiny! It's so cute. Do you still have your eyesight after stitching that? Could you make it into a pendent?
ReplyDeleteI love your teeny tiny house, thanks for the 20p comparison too!
ReplyDeleteI stitched my entire Advent Calendar over 1 on 32 count, they look super adorable! In fact I have this dilemma for my Spooky Countdown, over two or one? I think I'll do the same as you, stitch both and compare.
Oh my goodness, I can't imagine how darling your mini must be. I love that pattern also. I have a tiny ring that I bought that would probably be a match for your size.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you do, it will be wonderful I am sure.
