Smalls--Small and Smaller

Late last year I pulled a bunch of smalls patterns. I decided to start with a seasonally-appropriate piece, Heart in Hand Winter Fobs. The pattern called for 36-count fabric, which I didn't have. I had this one piece of 32-count fabric, and for some reason I thought, "Oh! I know, I'll just stitch it over one." Now, it's not like I don't understand math or don't have a fabric calculator at my disposal so I could see that that would be stupid small. Seriously. See Mr. Jefferson over there? He is completely covering the design.

It's a snowy little scene which seems quaint, when you know, your soul hasn't been crusted over with week-old snow. I'm not sure what I am going to do with this piece, but it doesn't seem like it's going to make a particularly good scissor fob. (For my friends more familiar with HRH, I've included the 20p.)

I went ahead and stitched it again over two and it is a much less ridiculous size. I think I will try to find some blue scissors or snowflake scissors (I might be pushing it there.)

Thank you all for your support against winter. I know we will get through this, but it does seem like the change of seasons is a long way off. Still,

No winter lasts forever
No spring skips its turn.

I am also glad to hear so many of you know how to behave in museums. However, the badly behaved seem to have been on an international crime spree on Sunday. We'll have to stage a takeover to keep the touchers out, or something.
EDITED: Oh, right. This is part of Stitching Lotus's Smalls SAL. You can click the image in the sidebar for more information.

  1. Would it fit in one of those watch fob pendants that I have been seeing around 'net? Or one of those pendant frames that is used by Milady's Needle?

  2. Yeah, I have some tiny frames that you can use as a pendant or pin with a bow at the top I got through one of the magazines years ago. Pretty tininess! I love tiny!

  5. They are both beautiful, and I applaud you for finishing the small one - it must have taken a lot of strength stitching over 1 on this fabric... Hang in there. Spring will come! :)

  7. A teeny weeny and a small. The first one would make an adorable button cover LOL What stamina (not to mention fantastic eyesight) to work on 32 ct and over 1 stitch. This will make a lovely fob!

  12. Lovely stitching. I saw somewhere a lady had made a needle minder out of a small stitch such as yours. I'm sure you could google a tutorial.

  13. Your small is very cute Anna. Think I'd turn the uber small into a covered button or magnet.
Were waiting for the next round of snow to start here again, their saying 4-10 inches.

  18. That is absolutely tiny! Perhaps you could use it to cover a button then mount it on the centre of a wooden snowflake ornament

  20. Tiny is precious! It would be adorable in one of those leaded glass scissor fobs, in which they usually use photocopies. Stay warm!

  27. wow, that is SO tiny! It's so cute. Do you still have your eyesight after stitching that? Could you make it into a pendent?

  28. I love your teeny tiny house, thanks for the 20p comparison too!
I stitched my entire Advent Calendar over 1 on 32 count, they look super adorable! In fact I have this dilemma for my Spooky Countdown, over two or one? I think I'll do the same as you, stitch both and compare.

  29. Oh my goodness, I can't imagine how darling your mini must be. I love that pattern also. I have a tiny ring that I bought that would probably be a match for your size.
Whatever you do, it will be wonderful I am sure.
