My leetle seester is a pretty amazing crafter. I just have to brag ABOUT her. (It's about. I don't care where you come from with this "brag on" bullshit but the correct English preposition is "about.")
My mom was a crafter, and obviously, I inherited that gene but it appeared my sister had not. After college, she was bored and looking for a hobby. One Christmas, I bought her everything, and I mean everything, you would need to do polymer clay crafts. It didn't take.
Then she discovered rubber stamping. I have to say she's actually the one who got me into that. (She dragged me along to Stampin' Up! parties and demos.) It was definitely her thing. And we know this because I once sent my one-eyed, nearly blind grandmother a card with a miniscule smudge on it, and she told me that my sister was the real card maker, the superior stamper. (That's for those of you jonesing for a Maggie story.)
Like most crafters, she's gotten into Pinterest. When she found this wreath and pinned it, I read the instructions. No way! So much work! It took her all summer, but she finished. Gorgeous, isn't it? She's all psyched up to do it in other colors for all the holidays. More power to her!
The wreath turned out great - I love the colors. They are a lot more work than they appear to be. I made one of those ribbon wreaths that are also popular right now and now I know why they cost $40 or more on Etsy.
ReplyDeleteThe wreath is so pretty! I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool that 'being crafty' runs in your family. It does in mine as well, my big sister can make about anything. She sews like a professional seamstress. Actually, I always felt a little inferior when looking at her abilities... LOL.
Your sister did a fantastic job, sometimes it takes a little longer for a person to find their calling and maybe now she has.
ReplyDeleteI like that festive wreath!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like both of you are very crafty!! I don't have any family to do crafts with, and I wish I did. But I do have a good friend that loves cross stitch, so we constantly talk about that! Fun times!
Oh, yes--I am anxiously awaiting your wonderful review of this year's Ornament Issue!!! One of the highlights of the season! It should be coming out very soon now!! Now THAT's a fun time!!!
I agree: it's a gorgeous wreath. But I also agree that it is too much work. Beside, the only time I put a wrath on the door is at Christmas. And I always porchase a traditional evergreen wreath for that purpose.
ReplyDeleteAwesome wreath. I cannot imagine the time and planning needed to create it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! One in fall colors would be beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that another crafter has been born. ;)
What a beautiful wreath Nikki. Your sister did a fantastic job.
ReplyDeleteLinda
That is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great wreath, and it will be beautiful done in harvest colors! I'm guessing that since she has already done one, the planning will be the hardest part!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wreath, I read the instructions too. 40 medallions each made of three fans of paper, then all stuck together and pinned NICELY round the wreath. That's the bit I'd struggle with!
ReplyDeleteWe all craft in my family. My mum and sister are more seamstresses, my sister also makes beautiful bags. My brother and my son are cartoonists and I stitch. Mum used to stitch when her eyesight was better.
Wow, the wreath is awesome! I can't imagine doing all those little folds so kudos to her on supreme patience! You have every right to brag about your little sister. :)
