Ca-ra-zay

I'm glad this little corner of the blogosphere exists where we cross-stitchers can come together to roll our eyeballs at the media. And it seems a little ironic to complain about a pretty small  slip by the fact checker when the mother of all fact checking fuck ups is going on. {coughmantite'ocough} And yet we persist.

I started what should be the fifth of my Crazy January starts. Crazy Love by Cross Eyed Cricket. I'm stitching with the called for threads on a piece of 32 count star sapphire linen. The letters are all stitched with Thread Gatherer's Silk 'n Colors. Love.

But here's the thing. I kind of feel like the ornaments don't count. So today I'm starting Boris by Plum Street Samplers. And that will be my five January starts. Then after my three days with Boris, I will move on to three days on a WIP. I'll have eleven days (roughly four rotation slots) to work on Star Light Star Bright, Home Sweet Home, That Dern Parrot, and...we'll see what moves me in nine days.

But I do have two more starts I want to make this year. Samsarah's Shining Star (Through the years we all will be together if the fates allow...). I'm still waiting for the fabric to come in. And Blackbird's Joyeux Noel. One of my father's sisters--the good one--asked me to make her something she could take out every Christmas. So I am doing that one. I love the cardinal; it's done in silk; I think it will be enjoyable to stitch. So not a real obligation. You know how you can tell, right?

  1. Will you finish Crazy Love as an ornament, or is it for YOUR anniversary? Which way for the L? Love Joyeux Noel - keep saying I'll stitch it again for myself.

  5. Oh my goodness, how true is that!

Although, I do occasionally do commission knits. I wonder what that says about me. lol!

  6. Looking forward to seeming more of your Crazy Love start. I've seen quite a few people with Crazy Jan. start challenges, whether 5 or 15 or each day. I've done 2 starts in Jan. and considered that being busy (although my new one Literate Dragon I'm so in love with haven't wanted to put it down so that probably contributed to the few new starts).

  7. Oh, I so agree with your obligation sentiment! I've had people I barely know ask me to stitch something for money. I've always told them that they couldn't afford it and I stitch for love.
