Up To

Anticipating: I'm sitting here halfway through my two hour delivery window. My new front loader arrives today. Our old washer was starting to put little holes in our clothes. When it put a hole in the thigh of the dude's new khakis that was the last straw. {Plus 50% off for Independence day.}

Making: You know all those recipes you tear out of magazines and then they sit in a stack in your kitchen? I've been working my way through them. I divided them into categories--breakfast, dessert, summer, fall, winter, spring--and made Woman's Day's Slow-Cooker Chinese Orange Beef (yes), Rachael Ray's Indian Pizza (yes), WD's wasabi salmon (no, not enough flavor), and Cooking Light's olive and almond pesto (eh).

Watching: Midsomer Murders. We should just get rid of cable and watch streaming Netflix. Oh, except we need cable for the sports...

Writing: Donation request letters for the library's silent auction. This year they gave me three month's notice. There's no stopping me! Hey, if your company donates things, or if your grandmother gave you an ugly but expensive purse you haven't used, let me know!

Reading: Elly Griffiths' Ruth Galloway mysteries. Ruth is a professor, expert in forensic anthropology. I like her better than Bones because while she is smart and awkward, she's not on the autism spectrum. A little more professor-normal, like people I know. I just finished The House at Seas End, and I'm eighth on the waiting list for A Room Full of Bones.

Applauding: Our Good Citizen! She passed. What a good girl.

    Hi there - thanks for sharing the Ruth Galloway series - I scurried on over to Kobo and downloaded it right away. We gave up on cable 4 years ago, and get along quite well without it. I watch Netlfox, and it's amazing how much content is on the network's websites also. As for sports, my husband's son has premium cable and a giant tv, so he goes there and does some male bonding. It works well for us; although I did have to buy a computer with a large monitor :-).
    Hope your washer arrives ;more or less on time.

  6. Congratulations Stella!!
    I wish that I was reading more right now but I seem to run out of time at the end of the day :( That sounds like a great series.

  7. I've read a few of the Ruth Galloway books and really like them - of course I'm a mystery and archaelogy buff so it seems kind of perfect :) I'm having a hard time this summer being absorbed by any book - my brain just isn't wanting to do that right now - could be the heat!

    Congrats on the new washer and congrats to Stella!!

  8. Elly Griffiths, I'll keep that in mind.

    I love my front loader. I know many people who love their top loaders, but I also know a lot of people who's white clothes aren't so white. I think the top loaders have a lot of soap build up inside.

    Clever Stella, I'm still in admiration.

  10. WooHoo - Stella's showing her skills, but see the Happy Dancing in her eyes! Have you spent the weekend doing laundry? I take it Griffiths has less gore than Cornwell - one of my favorites!

  11. Busy! Busy! We had to replace our washer at... Christmas! Oh boy not happy campers then. At least its only one appliance because a few weeks before the washer we had just replaced the treadmill that had given up the ghost too!

  12. Elly Griffiths did a signing at my shop but it was before I worked there so I didn't meet her.

    Lame Story No 25!
