Independent and Free

For the last three days I've been working on A Mind Independent and Free. I love this one. I can't wait to start putting the words on it, because I just love the saying:
No glory I covet/ No riches I want/ Ambition and/ Beauty are/ Nothing to me/ The one thing I/ beg of good/ heaven to grant/ Is a mind/ independent and / free.
It's an old Carriage House design, and I am stitching with the DMC conversion.

It doesn't look like it in this photo, but the horse on the right is two stitches (four holes) too close to the plant. I have to stitch some blackbirds in between the two and they are not going to fit. I'm pretty sure the screw-up is somewhere in that chevron section. Sigh. I'm not sure what's next. I mean, it is time to put this one down and move on. I guess I should make a note so when I pick it up again, I won't be surprised by the mistake, right?

Note to self: see how screwed up the chevron band is before you continue work on this.

Words to live by.

I think it looks great Nikki. If the birds don't fit, don't put them in there. Doesn't look like it needs birds to me.

I like the verse too. I'd leave the birds out rather than restitch the chevron. (I probably spend more time trying to figure out how to make the mistake work than if I'd just take it out, though.)

I hate taking out. I'm with the others in thinking you just leave it. It does look complete now.

I have a personal no frogging policy. It has served me well. Try it and see if it doesn't bring great peace of mind. This is a lovely design and no one will notice missing birds or a 2 stitch offset.

I've always loved this chart and your looks beautiful! I agree with everyone else, skip the birds and move on!

That is a wonderful verse. Your note to self sounds way too familiar to me. Beautiful stitching

Ditto on the birds. It looks great the way it is.

Pretend the birds flew away.....

I agree with the rest of the commenters. Just leave the birds out if they are a problem. Much better than having to restitch the chevron. I like the verse also.

Unfamiliar with this piece I had to look it up, what a lovely design!!!

I agree, skip the blackbirds for now. But I'd also skip the same 2 blackbirds (out of the 6 in that area) when you reach the bottom of the piece. *wink*

Good luck with your decision. :-)
