Friday Follies

Last Friday, while I was being scoped at both ends, the library ladies had their Halloween party. They finally took me up on the idea that we should just do an "anarchist's potluck" for these events. No sign ups, no assignments, what you bring is what you eat. So if everyone makes dessert, you lunch on dessert. Usually it works out that people bring a good variety of foods. And it saves the last person to sign up the pressure of trying to figure out what to bring for a salad. (Let's face it, everyone signs up for apps or dessert.) Anyway, they finally believe me that it works now. (And apparently this was a popular dish.)

This week we had a new person. In fact, over the last few months, we've had several new people start and they have all been on the young side. (Ahem, my age.) I might have to come up with a new name for "old lady stitching."

At any rate, I'm in the process of making their thank you gifts for participating in the silent auction (oh, I know I said I wasn't going to talk about that again, but...just forgive me). Last year I made bookmarks with sparkly initials. I wrote a thank you note on the back. This year I was thinking of starting from this idea. (This is a candy holder I made at last month's Stampin' Up! demonstration and then forgot to give the dude on Halloween.) You can also put gift cards in them--too spendy--or maybe a little bookmark? How many bookmarks does a person need?

Jo who can't think of a clever nickname said...

Depends on how many books they have on the go at one time!! As a minimum I'd say one in each room plus one in the travel bag and one at work?

Your comment on the buffet made me laugh, we are always allocated an item for the class buffet at the end of term and everyone crosses fingers for "crisps". Last term my friend came out staring at her hand and muttering "bloody cheese and pineapple", yes she'd drawn the short straw! I wonder if the teachers give their favourite children the easiest things?
