One Thin Dime

The last time I worked on this--about ten months ago--my dad couldn't focus on it because it was too small. Even with cheaters, over one on 40 count can make me cross-eyed. I had better get going on this before my (rapidly aging) eyes get any worse!

I was hoping to get the border done before I caved and started using more colors, but I couldn't manage it. I haven't often seen coral stars on Christmas trees...

If you're participating in the Needle and ThREAD: Stitching for Literacy New Blogger Puzzle Contest, here's line 1:

QSAM   YW   VLM     MPMWYWB,

This contest is open to everyone so if this is the first you're hearing of it, go take a look.

I love doing puzzles. I think that may be the only reason we get the daily Inquirer. I run through the Sudoku, cryptoquote, word game (how many words can you make from a longer word), Jumble, and the crossword while I am at the dog park or at lunch. Pete is impressed that I can do the cryptoquote though he is starting to catch on to my methods; my mother wonders at the fact they do not give you a letter to start (in her local rag, they get a letter--cheaters!).

Today, I am getting out the marquoir (aka the toga) on which I will spend two days so I can finish (at least) one page per my new year's resolution.  I think the alphabet with orange flowers is the halfway mark. And just for laughs, I left the dime.

Over one on 40 count? OY! Thanks for the dime, it really gives a (shocking) perspective.

The toga looks great, I like that orange colour.

Holy Moly! That Marquoir is HUGE!
I hear you on the 40 ct. I have a silk gauze kit a purchased years ago. I better get on it this year or it'll be physically impossible!
It's all about the light bulb!

Wow! Tiny! I had to throw in the towel on one over one on 32 count! Things started looking like blobs.

Could you re do the link for the puzzle site? It doesn't link right.... I won one of her contests a couple years ago. The pattern is still awaiting it's chance to see the light of day, but I'll do it some day.

Well I hope you find a solution for your eyes - it's frustrating I know and I'm years ahead of you so I can't stitch hardly at all without my Daylight lighted magnifier. I also have a Mighty Brite for my family room although I don't like it as much. Did you know at age 50 you need twice as much light to see the same detail you did when you were younger - ouch! You probably just need a little slight help since you're much younger. Your sampler is looking great!

I am loving this border - the colors and pattern are so soothing! Over one on 40 count, though - no thanks. ;)

What? I didn't think anyone could do over one on 40 without the aid of mag and bright light!

** Mom rant... Get yourself some readers and it will be so much more fun. Even if you don't realize you are straining to see, it's frustrating. I don't remember reading about your stitching light, either... **

Ooh, pretty coral star! No wonder you couldn't resist stitching it. And the toga is looking lovely!
