August

I did not manage to make it to Library Friday stitching, so I cannot update you on Mabel's story. I did ask for news, but haven't heard anything yet. I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Thanks too for the tip on putting needles in my stitching bag. I usually have a needlebook in my bag, but I changed bags as I was rushing to get the bus. I hate carrying the bag I made on public transportation. It's not only too precious, it's too big.

Christmas in July was interrupted a bit by birthday and anniversary in July, but I still finished two of the three projects I set for myself.
  • Mirabilia, Christmas Elf--Finito! I'm so happy to have this done. I believe I started it in 2008. Hahahaha. I just checked on that and I was nearly finished in 2007 having started in 2006. Sigh.
  • Fancy Work, Noel Ornament--also complete (see below)
  • Bent Creek, Snowman Stocking--While watching the Psych marathon, I completed one spiral and the snowman.

August goals
  • marquoir, I'll be in Maine when the others meet for the stitch in, so I'm bringing it with me
  • finish finish some ornaments (Oh look, she's scheduling those New Year's resolutions!)
  • Strip piece the the messenger bags (and another!)
  • make cards with blue scraps (and another!)
  • finish Folk Art Threadkeep
  • finish Tree of Life Window
Those last two are going to help me make progress on my 101 Things in 1001 Days.

What's with all this Christmas stitching? It's making me nervous. Especially when it is done so nicely as yours. And who cares when you started a project? As long as you enjoyed stitching it. (You did enjoy stitching that angel, didn''t you?)

Great finishes Ms.SB - congratulations! Thanks for your comments about my dog Ginger that you left yonks ago - it's been a busy summer. We don't do doggy day care due to the fact that my DH is el-cheapo. That's also the reason he doesn't believe in paying a trainer as we "can train her ourselves"........... sigh. Since I'm the one with her 80% of the time it seems a bit unfair. Fortunately he's good in the sack so I'll keep him around.

PS. DH is good in the sack. Not Ginger. A-hem.

Yikes - Christmas?! Oh no! Seriously, it's lovely. I'm just so not ready to think winter thoughts yet.

Very nice Christmas stitching! I love the bling on the Christmas Fairy particularly. I can sympathize with missing stitching bits and bobs when you hurriedly switch bags... these things can happen and they are very annoying too! Let us know about Mabel when you can.

Both ornaments are very pretty! Love the buttoned up boots on your Christmas angel! Have a great trip to Maine - I love NE and need to go for another visit one of these days.

Congratulations on the finishes! Both are well done. I'm envious of your trip to Maine since you'll be experiencing cooler weather. Hope you enjoy it!

I bought pre-made, non-cross-stitch Christmas ornaments this week at a sidewalk sale that will eventually be interspersed on the same tree where I will hang the bazillion cross stitch ornaments that I plan to stitch someday. Does that count?
