Oh Puh-lease

  • Really? All I had to do was make a fancy photograph, and I'd get this age-old idea (putting magazine pages in a sleeve in a three-ring notebook) on one of the hipster-dufus craft sites? Maybe I should take a less critical look at the things I am doing?
  • DMC is touting "half cross-stitch" that you can do in half the time, using pearl cotton on 14- count fabric. It also looks half as good (or half-ass good). Actually, CinDC has been doing this for years, but instead of scaling up, she scales down. One thread over one on (28?32?-count fabric). These little pieces are delightful; I've seen them with my own two baby blues.
Carry on.

Who is CinDC? Does she have a blog where we can see her stuff? I have a silk gauze kit-thing of a pumpkin in my stash that I keep vowing to do before I can't see that close anymore....and time and my eyesite keeps dwindling away....
I can still do one strand over 2 on 40 ct though!

I won't even mention that recipe book. As for DMC and that half cross stitch, I thought it was half assed too. I don't pay much attention to their blog since it's just sneaky advertising anyhow.

I always swear I'll give up stitching if I ever get to the point where I have to do half-ass stitching... or those projects that are pre printed and you only have to put in a few stitches here and there.

Silly craft magazine. I've been doing that with recipes since I was 9. I guess it was a slow news day for them.

And please note that when putting the magazine recipes in the plastic sleeves, she did not even bother to unfold the corners of the pages she'd turned down. Really?!

Stitchers on the HAED BB have been doing the 2x1 tent for years. It does take the sting out of a BAP, they seem to actually finish these honking big projects. The stitching does look beautiful. I have a tent project started but it feels like cheating. I prefer the full cross. So the HAED projects I have started will take me forever but hey, it is all about the journey right?

And wow, I'm a hipster dufus, I made one of those binder sheet protector recipe albums like two years ago. I am such a trend setter without knowing it....LOL

Perle cotton projects done in half-crosses on 14-count? I'll just say no thanks, even though I'd like to say more. The real question is: Do you want it done quickly or well? I'd rather have it done well.

As for the newly discovered page-protectors, everything I can think of to say sounds so bitchy and superior. Believe me when I tell you that the obvious so often escapes me, but come on!

Thanks for the compliment. I started to write a long comment, but decided to turn it into it's own blogpost instead.

You can find me over at <a href="http://www.pencilcrossings.blogspot.com>Pencil Crossings</a>.

You know what's even faster than the half-cross? Not stitching!

I think focusing on speed in embroidery is missing the point.
