Friday Night Stitches

I'd love to show you how much stitching I got done Friday night. But there's been a SNAFU.

I made a mistake, we voted, and I continued on having skipped two rows in the basket (actually in the weird birds).

Now before I go on, someone did make the argument that I should take it out because "I'd know there was a mistake in it." Hahahaha! That is not the kind of person I am. By the time I get to the other side (four months from now) I'd forget that I had made the mistake. In fact, if there was a reason to unstitch, it's that I'd forget to make the same mistake on the other side.

When I decided to skip the rows, Molly said, "Just don't count off it when you're stitching the next part." Of course, by the time I got to the next motif, I had totally forgotten that I wasn't supposed to count from the basket. The next alphabet is eleven rows below the basket; it should be 13. I realized this Saturday morning. And so this picture from the last time I stitched on the marquoir demonstrates my progress from this weekend. How can a person forget to do a thing they've been told to do just minutes before?

I'm going to blame the conversation. I would tell you all about it, but the google phrases that would lead people to my blog would make you blush. Besides you have to come to get the gossip.

The toucher was there Friday night but she kept her distance. And I kept her in my sights. In fact, it was a rather small and quiet group. A few of my favorite people couldn't make it. So you'd have thought I would have stitched much more of this pattern. Or maybe you just know how I spectacularly I can screw up a pattern and have come to expect this from me?

Yeah, I rarely frog if it isn't absolutely necessary - and Molly's advice was good but.... I can't remember why I walked in a room half the time - I doubt I'd have remembered that either. Maybe next time it happens, and let's face facts, it will, you could mark the spot with a pin or something just to trigger your memory.

You got the "toucher' and I am the "spiller". Don't worry, I'll keep my distance....

"How can a person forget to do a thing they've been told to do just minutes before?" You've just described my DH to a 'T' ;) Although I would probably have done the same myself (and have done, IIRC).

I am another that doesn't frog unless I absolutely have to. I never remember where the mix up was once I get finished either. Good choice!!

Why frog if you can fudge?

I just have one question - did you wear the obligatory sweater?

I'm another one who's relieved to hear there are other people who don't frog if it's not really necessary! :)

Oh my. I have done the exact same thing. And I blame the conversation, too!

I stitched a very plain and simple border and messed it up three times while stitching with friends. I called it quits until I got home that day - it just happens!

There was a day at lunchtime at school when I tried to comment and my computer wouldn't let me. So I'm gonna blah, blah, blah in this one little box.

Thank you so much for making me feel normal in forgetfulness and the inability (at times) to count. I've made a one-square mistake on a little sampler, and I can't figure it out to save my life. If I don't fix it, it'll require more fixes. If I put it down, I'll forget it needs fixing. I feel your pain.

Every time you lead me over to Adrienne's blog, I have a great time. I wish I could be where you are on the 8th. Can't wait to read the book.

I absolutely agree with the dude ... a bad-weather day on vacay beats hell out of a good day at work. Hope you had loads of fun, even if you had to turn into a senior citizen.

You should 'talk' to my Celtic Banner about frogging and forgetting. When I made my working copy, two rows didn't show on my copy. Of course I followed my copy and when I looked at the picture I realised that something was not right. So I frogged, had a break from stitching it, and when I picked it back up, I did exactly the same thing that I did the first time ^(&$))&%. I hate frogs.

Oh heck, I'm not big on frogging. If I won't notice it in the future, then I'll leave it. Or if it really affects other parts of the design. I just had to frog that part of the border on my current stitch because it bugged the heck out of me every time I looked at it. Sorry I missed the gossip, but I'm more upset about the irish potatoes. ;) Seriously, though, it was a tough call for me to make, but family had to take precedence, especially now that they live in Maine, so we only see them a couple of times a year. Next time.
