Craftilicious Weekend

It's been interesting hearing your perspectives on the reunion. Unlike many of you, I enjoyed my high school experience. I really did. I mean, I was a cheerleader! (It's just like all the movies: popularity, boy friends, parties, cross-town rivals in the cheerleading competitions, stolen routines, zombie cheerleader camp.) And I actually enjoy my college reunions whether or not my circle of friends attends. I'm just not feeling this, and I'm not entirely sure why. Anyway, I'm not sure I need or want to figure this out.

Friday night was stitching night again. Jenna was there working on a wedding sampler. Yup, she's still stitching; it's just the blogging that is suffering. ;) I worked on getting the charms on my Shepherd's Bush stockings. I finished Anna's stocking by the skin of my teeth--they were clearing up around me. I did have to finish the name first, and I was only able to do that because of the fantastic customer service I received. I called in my order for the skein of Crescent Colors Perle that I was missing and Molly brought it to the stitch in. Can't ask for better than that! I had hoped to get both stockings done but I'll just have to build it into my (overstuffed) schedule. One of the wonderful things about Friday's stitch in how many times the women who work at the shop told us they appreciated us coming. Ruth Ellen told us she enjoyed seeing the younger faces in the crowd. (See, cross-stitch isn't just for grandmothers!) I guess I count in that one, but only just.

When I got home I had to sew the charms on Sisters because Saturday was the last day to bring in the framing in time for Christmas. It was a late night.

Saturday was an early morning. I had to be at a stamp-a-stack at 9:30 am. Fortunately, they had breakfast for us. I had to take a break from making my first card (a waterfall) and get some food into me because I was making silly mistakes. Though not as silly as the mistake I made at the end of the day when I glued two fronts on the same card. It was a long day. Then I hightailed it to the Strawberry Sampler to bring in my framing. Then I picked up dog food (we fed Stella the very last cupful in the morning). I pulled into the driveway at 5:00. It was a very full day.

I'd show you the cards, but I think it would spoil the surprise when one arrives in your mailbox!

Anna, do you go to your stitch in at the Strawberry Sampler? My friend and I went to a couple of their stitching retreats a few years ago. We live in New York, so we would leave on Friday afternoon and make a girls weekend of it. I wish they still had them because they were always fun.

You lost me on the 3rd sentence. You were NOT a cheerleader! Were you really? Oh my god, it's like finding out that Santa's ... well, I won't go on with that thought out of fear of it being taken the wrong way. But really - you were a cheerleader????

You just seem too cool to have been one of them. LOL.

Reunions - never been to one, never plan to.

Stitch-ins - love 'em. I go to the little shop almost every Thursday evening and this past Saturday I went to my first quarterly Saturday 4:00 - 9:00 thing. It was their Christmas ornament exchange so it was fun even though I did not bring an ornament so did not get one.

All the ornaments were beautiful with several done over one. Now I know what their standard is for next year.

The blogging will stop suffering so much soon. First it took me forever to blog about Phoebe's passing and now I've been trying to wait what seemed like an appropriate amount of time after that post before I tried to pick up the pieces and move on. I'm working on it. :) Oh, and I finished that piece Sunday night; I'm so stoked!

The card is beautiful!! I always look forward to seeing what you make. I think I am now inspired to make cards next year. Is this possible? How do I learn how to do it? Will anyone appreciate them? So many questions. But that little red cardinal made my day. And also made me realize what a shitty bloggy friend I've been over the past year. Where has the year gone????
