Stitchers Read

Recently someone sent a meme on facebook asking me to answer some questions using the titles of books I had read this year. I have read woefully few. I say I'm still trying to catch my breath after all the reading I did in graduate school, but lets face it, I've had the PhD for seven years now. I think I've recovered.

Vickie over at Reading and Stitching is encouraging us to read more--ten books before the end of the year. Sign up by September 15th and read your books and you could win a gift card to B&N.

The Books
:
  1. Richard Russo, That Old Cape Magic
  2. Richard Russo, Empire Falls
  3. Lorrie Moore, A Gate at the Stairs
  4. Marilynne Robinson, Gilead
  5. Jhumpa Lahiri, Interpreter of Maladies
  6. Janet Evanovich, Finger Lickin' Fifteen
  7. Shaffer and Barrows, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
  8. Reginald Hill, Death's Jest Book
  9. Reginald Hill, Good Morning, Midnight
  10. Reginald Hill, Death Comes for the Fat Man
Fortunately, you're not locked in to the books. You know how I am with to-do lists.

Oh, this sounds like a very good idea! Not being able to read and stitch at the same time is the stitcher's curse, I think. I've tried audio books, but they're not for me.
I love the Dalziel & Pascoe books!

This does sound like a great idea. I love to read so this shouldn't be hard to do - I've read about half on the list, but this will give me something to start with. Thanks for the link.

Well I, for one, am grounded from reading anything for the next two days. I finished a book last night and bawled myself right into hives and a migraine! (Am I a m-e-s-s or what?) I haven't done that since reading "Charlotte's Web" when I was a kid!

I will, however, take up the challenge as soon as the medication kicks in.

P.S. The title of the book was "The Elegance of the Hedgehog". Fabulous. Simply Fabulous.

I just finished listening to That Old Cape Magic last night. I think you'll like it, particularly the LA references. I also listened to Finger Lickin' Fifteen recently. Lots of fun!

Thanks for posting about the challenge--I'm in, too.

As the Elegance of the Hedgehog. I've started it. And loved it so much I put it down. So I could start it all over again. Such a lack of well-written literature being published these days. I'm saving it till Christmas.

Oh yeah. And nice list, Anna. I love Richard Russo. And the Guernsey book was fun.

I read 3 books on your list & thought #7 was a great read.

A wonderful list of books, I decided to join along to and I'm really glad it's ok to change your mind! My list keeps changing :)

I don't get to read near as much as I'd like, there just never seems to be time. However, I have a 45 min. commute each way to work, so I listen to books on tape in the car, so that could sort of count. :)
Finger Lickin Fifteen is on my to read (hear) list too, I love that series.
