Ah, Fall

Football and stitch-ass. They go hand in hand, just ask Rosey Grier.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to handle the college football season this year. This new freshman QB for USC doesn't have much until the final minutes of each half. You can see why Coach Carroll--is there any cuter coach in college ball? I think he should headline the "coaches of the NCAA" calendar.

But I digress. You can see why Pete promoted this young man: anyone who can play that well under that kind of pressure? I don't think I can take the pressure of watching this season if all the games are going to be like that last minute dismantling of the superior Ohio State team. I could hardly watch, which is good because that meant I spent more time stitching. And I finished all the exes on Martini. Loads of beading left; got to get out the Tacky BOB.

I plan to stop by my alma mater's craft group today. And BIG EXCITEMENT! my LNS is starting a stitching night. The first one is this Friday. I think the Workbasket mermaids will get some attention this week.

Martini looks grand even without the beads ... and I thoroughly envy you your stitching night, not having an LNS closer than a 2 and 1/2 hour road trip.
I was thinking of you just yesterday while reading a mrxstitch entry about a Lithuanian artist who cross stitches on metal [soup ladles, car doors, sheet metal] that she has drilled with holes ... she was quoted as repeatedly claiming to raise a banal low art/craft into a high art form. It made me think of all the quotes you collect and your recent posts about radical cross stitch ... it was an older post [April 28th if I remember correctly]. While I took an almost instant dislike to the artist's arrogant persona, I did think the soup skimmers and ladles were quite amazing ... the car doore, not so much.

Here's to sports and stitching, and since I no longer live in a Pac-10 town, I will reluctantly give you that USC is kinda good. (Go Huskies). And here's to watching sports and stitching something that has NOthing to do with the sport.

Martini looks great, can't wait to see what the beads will add.

To much football lingo for me, but stitching night sounds great wish I was there. And I've never had a martini yet.

Lovin' the martini!

Football. Sigh. Stitching night. Incredibly deep sigh. I am so insanely jealous. There are no words. Make sure you post about it in excrutiating detail.

College football is a rather sore subject in my household at present. The Buffs absolutely suck!

I've never heard of Tacky BOB. In fact, when I first read it, I thought you were referring to a guy I used to date. :0

yep - Martini looks really great even without the beads as the other comments point out! We are not a football watching household but we do watch a lot of tennis - stitchy butt overload with the US Open the past two weeks.

Stitching night = tons of fun! Enjoy.

I'd love a martini. Er, I mean I love your martini! We not only have college football here, U of M and MSU, but our gawd awful Lions..... It could be a long year - hopefully I will get lots of stitching done.

Stitching night! Yay! I am happy for you.

NCSU is not getting off to a good start, either...sigh. Surely we'll have a good year at some point?? We even finally have a good quarterback, but who ever heard of not having receivers??? Ah well -
Stitching looks good and how exciting to be starting stitching nights!

There's some kid named "Carroll" playing for UCLA this year. I have to find out if there's a connection. Glad USC beat OSU. The Bruins bested the Vols, which was doubly fun, since the announcers definitely favored the Vols (it *was* the SEC on ESPN, after all).

All I have to say is it's about time they started a stitching night! I couldn't believe when I called them a while ago to see if they did anything like that and they had nothing. Glad to hear they're now getting on the stick. Hopefully, I'll be able to come next month, but I may need a little nudge, so let me know when you're going.

Oh, and re: the Tacky BOB, beware of it when using it with metallic finished beads or any other delicate finish. The tack is so strong that I've had it rip the finish off of my beads!

Martini looks great, looking forward to seeing the beads when they are done.
I hope you can manage to get to the stitching night, sounds like fun!
