Not Stitching, the 101 Things Edition

Today, I applied for two jobs, so treated myself to a movie. The choices were rather limited since I couldn't see anything the dude wanted to see with me and I didn't want to see a load of crap. Although I have been known to see a lot of load-of-crap movies. I didn't want to drive into the city to see something, you know, really good. At least I refused to see the new flicks with Stiller or Ferrell. Instead, I went to see Star Trek. This is the first anything of Star Trek that I have ever seen. Of course, it's such a part of our culture that I know more than I should--all the characters, the plot of Wrath of Kahn, what a tribble is--without ever having seen any of it. I enjoyed it. It was great fun. I like summer blockbusters that are fun.

Even with all that I still managed to start #68 on my 101 list, "use every stamp Sissy and I have." First, I cleaned and put away all the stamps scattered across my craft table, which was unfortunately a lot of them. I decided to start with the "misc" drawer--the one that holds all the non-Stampin' Up stamps. I stamped (and then cleaned again!) just over a dozen, and now I am coloring them with watercolor crayons while I watch the Sox blow a lead against the Yankees. Still they've won six this year. All six.

Geez, that must leave me as the last geek in the US to see Star Trek. Some of my friends have seen it three times already.

Man, I've missed a few days worth of updates somehow.... love the wreath on your door - the colors are all so FUN!!! I love your 101 list too and you're making awesome progress on it. I think I need to start one - maybe do the number of days there are till school is back in session! Your purple cards in the previous post are awesome -

How was Winona Ryder in it? I'll have to wait for it to go to DVD before I can see it. Congratulations on applying for two jobs. Know any places with in-house daycare ...?

Hey, the post woman brought me a package from you today!! I'm already reading Alice Munro's collection. You have EXCELLENT taste. Paul Auster is one of my favorite contemporary authors, and I've love Munro since my university days. Thank you SO MUCH! :D

Hey, the Red Sox managed NOT to blow it, in the end (go Youk!).

I enjoyed Star Trek, too. I have seen most of the older movies (at least from IV to the last one) but I really really enjoyed this one because it was fun, fast, and brain candy!

Oh ye of little faith...seven in a row, baby! I think Wake is going to pitch until his age matches his player number.

Use every stamp? oh my. My face is turning red. Maybe I should send some of mine to a better home in Pennsylvania...

Star Trek rules!!

Not to be missed: Star Trek: First Contact, starring the cast of ST: The Next Generation. Seriously, you don't need to know anything about that particular series to enjoy it. Add it to your Netflix queue!

Star Trek? What's that about? Famous people leaving Hollywood for warmer climes in winter?

Good for you for applying for not one but two jobs in one day! I hope you get good results.

OK. You are the second person today who has mentioned that she has gone to see Star Trek: The Movie and hasn't seen any previous Star Trek. (The newbie at the lunch table said the same thing.)

I still haven't been able to see it, and I've seen all the movies and all of the new ST episodes (just not all of the original ones). I am so jealous.

We did get to go see The Hangover last Friday (ST wasn't showing at the right time), and it's wickedly funny, but also a bit tasteless in places.

The Hangover is the movie I couldn't see because the dude wants to see it too. We held out for a long time on Old School, but loved it so much we want to see this one too.
