A Different Mermaid

So, my mother's birthday is next week...um, this Saturday. But I will see her Monday. This is where her mermaid stands:

I have done some work on this since the Great Unstitchening.

As you can see she won't be finished on Saturday or even Monday. So I've turned my attentions to another mermaid, Teresa Layman's A Fish Tale. Here's where she was, um, almost three years ago when I put her away. I took this picture earlier this evening.

I've already finished the waves. Next I'll fill in the background. If this progresses well, I'll bring this with me to Florida. If not, I'll run out and buy something for my mother on Saturday.

Because one of my New Year's Resolutions was "Make sure that I am always happy stitching on a project. This means that if deadlines are stressing me out, I will change the goal. No more panicking."

Words to live by, people.

No stress. Obviously, I'm for that! My husband also loves mermaids, but only ones not wearing tops.

I like your resolution and your method of not stressing. I am constantly changing my stitching goals.

Good words to live by. My mom's birthday is also this Saturday - she's getting a Lizzie*Kate "Ask me about my Grandkids", hopefully finished into a flat-fold with a picture-frame-opening thing. Or maybe just a flat-fold of the saying. No stress. Only do what you can do!

Anna, love, love, love your words to live by. Stress-free stitching is the ONLY way to go (hopefully that way you don't want to hurt people). lol BTW, I really like both Mermaids... great job!

I agree with you on those words to live by. Soon, very soon I'll also live by them, then my exchnage committments will be done and I'm free to do some happy stitching.

I don't stress either... if a WIP isn't fun anymore, out it goes!

I like the knotty mermaid; does it go pretty fast? Looks like you still have a fair amount to do on her, too... good luck :)

Words to live by, but not always so easy to follow in my experience. Good for you!

A very good resolution!
I am trying to make a list of goals... but it just seems to make me stressed out too. And really who are we racing for anyways?

WOW oh WOW this is just something else - the Theresa Layman's A Fish Tale. What I didn't know when I posted before was that it is made entirely of FRENCH KNOTS - you sure have my admiration - well you had it before but now EVEN MORE!!! If your mom doesn't get it I WANT IT big time! Lots of Love Patti xxx

I love your words to live by too. I used to stress myself out so much over projects. Now I'm just stitching what I want, when I want. I love your TL Mermaid. I've never seen it before and it's so cute! But you have my admiration too on the French Knot thing. That would drive me nuts. I love the Mermaid for your mom too. Just give her an IOU!

Both your mermaid projects look great. I've been contemplating one of those Theresa Lyman pieces but haven't given in yet. I can't wait to see yours finished.

Definitely words to live by - I get so stressed out by even self-imposed deadlines. Both mermaids are gorgeous. I'm so sorry I've been such a terrible SAL partner.
