Grammar Bitch

For at least a year, maybe two, I've been wanting to start a new blog, Grammar Bitch. The idea was to go about my daily life with a camera to document bad grammar and give little lessons about the world gone wrong. All those misplaced apostrophes are just waiting for me to come along with a metaphorical red pen. (Graffito, "Jesus Save's," gave me the idea.) I never thought of doing something like this. But I would. Can you see it? A band of editors set loose (loose!) on America... You can follow the journey here.

I would definitely read a blog like that, as I'm a major Grammar Snob myself. An occasional typo is one thing, but the consistent misspellings and misplaced apostrophies drive me nuts.

I blame my mom for my snob-ness...she's a former drill-sargeant-type English teacher and she taught my sister and me the same way she taught her students. I had more grammar rules foisted on me as an elementary school student than I did in college...LOL!

Love it. I am too afraid to write more in case I make a mistake.

You find the best stuff! I wish I could go with them.
Definitely bookmarked that blog- thanks!
(Do you have any idea how many backspaces I just made to edit for typos?)

You guys ever heard of Grammar Girl? She does lovely grammar podcasts. She also has a Flickr group of bad grammar pics people have submitted -fun (occasionally depressing)!

I'm so glad to see I'm not alone in my annoyance at all the typos and errors running rampant in the U.S. My pet peeve is when a store spells something wrong and it's printed correctly on the box the item came in......argh. Those years of nuns rapping spelling and grammar lessons into my head must have worked!

I've heard of that before. It's awesome!

Oh my gosh. I mean, I know I make some errors now and then on my blog (mostly from typing too fast and my lack of proofreading), but sometimes I see blogs where there are just errors all over the place. It drives me NUTS! To the point where I can't read them anymore.

I so wish that you would come to my gym and slap some grammar sense into whichever idiot it is that types up their signs, prints 100 copies, pastes them up all over the gym, but doesn't proofread them. The current one "locks left on lockers overnight will be cut off and the contents will donated to charity" - notice the missing word. It is driving me crazy!!!

Oh my. You must cringe when you read my blog.

Is commenting on the comments allowed? Can a grammar snob point a finger at the person who misspelled "sergeant" and "apostrophes"?

On the other hand, I'll compliment her on the correct use of "me" in "my sister and me."
